  1. Just when I thought this topic was finish, someone else joins in and makes a good point. Sometimes I kinda feel alone because of my unique characteristics. I just wish people would stop telling me how to act. So I don't like rap, or BET, or "Do-rags", or FUBU, so what, no reason to shun me for it. Stereotypes are becoming the permadent label for all races. It's the mixed ones that take the fall. It's like you gotta be on one side or another, you can't be on all sides anymore. Even non-mixed people who act differently then they appeared to act take a fall too. Everyday I always being shunned for having my hair in natural curls instead of combing it out into an afro, I always being shunned for listening to jazz and instrusmentals instead of rap and R&B, I'm even being shunned for saying "here" instead of "herre". We got to think of the way to end these stereotypes that make it harder for all of us to develop our own individuality.
  2. Yeah, I mean, look at Halle Berry, she's the hottest women I've ever seen. Their are others too, I think The Rock is pretty cool, and Tiger Woods is the best at golf. It's good to mix things up.
  3. I'm not racist, but then again, most people don't really understand the meaning of what is a racist. A racist isn't just someone who discriminates againist people by their ethnic group, it's anyone who treats other differently by race period. When people (mostly black people) come up and start calling me the N-word, then I know they're being racist by directing that word to me cause I'm black...unless they said that to every person came up to (and I know they don't.) Racism is how you approach people differently based on race, and nothing else.
  4. Yeah, it very hard to be around other ethnic groups. Most of the black people in my school think I'm some sort of traiter cause I don't hang out with them or treat them better then I treat people of other ethnic groups. They except me to support them in some way cause we're both black, and I have no problems with helping people out, but they gotta relize that I doing it cause I'm a nice guy, and color has nothing to do with it. And to answer the second question, yes it is indimitating. Black people are always calling me their brother only cause I'm black. It hurts inside to realize that if I wasn't black, they probably wouldn't even know who I was. That's all they see in a brother, someone who "looks" similar to them. The truth is we ALL look similar to each other, so what's with the "pick and choosing" of whose your brother and whose not if we're all family. I consider you a sister, even if I have no idea what you look like LOL, you're still my sister. This shouldn't be a problem for the US. We are so beyond this sort of thing, it makes no sense why racial unity is still an issue.
  5. yeah, your right NBW. Man, I wish this didn't have to be a struggle for me. People that only know me or like me ONLY cause I'm black and people that don't even know me for the same reason. I want to stop this crap right now! I sick of people noticing me for the way I look, calling me a brother cause I look similar to them. That's not what being a brother means. Being a brother means loving others the same way you want to be loved, no matter what color or race they are. Being a human race automaticlly makes us ALL family, whether you think so or not. So stop this racial family stuff and come together people! I hope one day people will look past this outershell of mine and like me for who I am INSIDE. I also hope that these words will change someones mind about the way they look at people/family.
  6. This has been an endless struggle for me. I tried to find an answer, but I can't seek it anywhere. I'm Half Black, half something else I'm not sure of (cause my family hasn't really told me, I have a problem with that). But anyway, I'm considered Black(despite my yellowish light skin.) Anyway, I have a story to tell you guys, and I need a opinion: I work at Mcdonalds and "I'm lovin it" LOL. I usally work at the cash register. What happen was these two Black guys that go to my school came in to order someone. After they ordered, they said "Can we get a family discount?" I shrugged, but kindly said "No" cause I'm not allowed to give discounts to anybody, unless they got coupons. So after they got their order, one of the guys said "You should be nicer to your race, that's all you got." I sort of ignored that comment and took the next customer. I felt bad after that. I'm not the kind of guy that ignores ppl. It's just that I believe in treated ppl equal, not better or worse. And I don't give ppl special discounts or special attention to ppl just because their a similar color or race to me. I also don't apprciate it when ppl do that stuff to me(treat me all special cause I'm black or Hispanic or whatever the heck I am.) Do you guys have any advice for me, cause I could desperatly use some.
