Need to tell parents something..........

I need to tell my mom tonight before it is too late. But my boyfried of 4 months and I are going to Vegas Jan. 2nd just to have a vacation by ourselves. We reallyneed to do this he is great a little older than me and we have gone on a vacation together before but the last time we had someone with us. So I really dont know how to break the news to her....Any ideas?

You realize that you will not be allowed to gamble in any of the casinos or drink there - right? Vegas can be pretty boring for someone who's not 21 yet.

With that said, you should just be up front and honest with your mother about your plans. You are an adult, so you can make your own decisions about things like this. She may have some concerns, just hear her out. And then you can reassure her that you'll be fine.

I know that I am an adult now, I guess I am just more nervous about it than anything but my boyfriend is 25 and Im almost 20....But I am still living under my parents roof going to a community school so they still arent used to a lot of things that could be happening in college.....

are they supporting you 100% financially as well? If so, you are somewhat stuck under the "our house our rules" scenario. There is being an adult by age, but also being an adult by responsibility...and parents sometimes view not supporting yourself as a lack of responsibility. thereforeeee, they can make your choices for you, so I'd really watch how you place down the "adult" card. If you are contributing then you have more of a foot to stand on in making your own choices.

Why vegas? Like avman said, it's pretty boring for someone under the age of 21...and purely from a "mom" perspective, are you more worried about the idea of how they feel about you going on vacation with the guy alone...or WHERE you are going? (mom thought here...Oh no she is running off to elope! ACK!)

There are a few things they pay for: school, housing, car insurance, health insurance. That is it. I pay for everything else I need my car payments all of my everyday expenses. So I mean I hope she understands but I really dont know how they will take it mainly because we will be alone together for 3 days without any supervision.

Oh yeah Vegas we both like it there a lot. I cant gamble but it is so gorgeous compared to Chicago at this time of the year also my gram lives down there and he has a cousin down there so we plan on doing some family visiting.... I cant wait to see my gram.

emphasize the family visit more than the vegas glitz...you should be ok.

and this time of year...ANYTHING is better than chicago...brrrrr

now in the summer tho, vegas has it's run for the money with me as far as chicago is concerned...lots to do there in the summer and the weather is better!

yeah, you dont wanna get in any trouble if you go, that wont make your mom trust u next time, make her understand you will be safe and it will all be alright, just promise her u wont get into any trouble.

Just talk openly with them. Explain to them why you want to go to Vegas, how important it is to you...ect. Your parents might be more understanding than you think.

Also, there are lots of things in Vegas other than drinking, gambling, and strip shows. There are water parks, theme parks...dones of stuff.
