Emotional support group Covid19

Someone posted on FB about how we don't need celebrities singing to us right now. We need them to donate at least a million dollars of their money and buy ventilators, desperately needed medical supplies etc to actually help.

Distributing the wealth in order to save people. What good are they doing hoarding all their money and not helping out the rest of us with thousands everyday, dying?

I couldn't agree more.

Hi folks - for those with kids whose districts have implemented remote learning, how the heck are you dealing? Totally wanna pull my hair out.

It has improved this week. Last two weeks were lame. Next week is spring break. I can't stand how much we have to be involved because he will come out of his room. Today was 2.5 hours total.

We are well considering the circumstances!! He’s in 1st grade in a step up to gen Ed classroom(we changed his placement to less restrictive after 2 months!) - he takes math in gen ed, too. We moved(still in the state) to a place with an amazing school district. He has really been thriving here. I miss you!! We should FaceTime. He’s so big!

Fudgie you're in my thoughts. Thank you for not quitting. This does seem like a burden the medics have to bear, others may want to help but we don't know how. Are you in contact with other people doing the same kind of work? They could be good for support. And don't let NYC steal you away what's happening there is terrible but there are already people who need your care where you are. They aren't saving anyone if they take resources from one sick person to give to another :-(

Seraphim I think you're making the right call not reopening and I hope you can weather the storm. I hope we all do. Getting out for walks is on point, I've been doing so many bike rides lately (darn well bust a tyre didn't I?! For better or worse our gormless crime minister has not shut down retail yet so I can take it back to bike shop for repairs)

I'm heading into week 3 of post covid 19 job less, I think I'm pretty much at acceptance. Stay at home, tell everyone to wear a mask and practice good hygiene with aforementioned mask, living off of savings at the moment watching the prime minister do more socialism than the progressive party was Ever allowed to do. Feeling the worry for countries that seem to be heading the way Italy did. Assume everyone is infected including yourself and act accordingly to prevent spread.

Has anyone else had the thought that now is the time to grow a veggie garden?

Also if anyone is looking for alternative ways to video call whereby.com is pretty user friendly and free for up to 4 participants in a call. (And you can make the person you're calling's window full screen so Seraphim, your mum could zoom in on your face and be freed of looking at her own....she would just have to get past the brief discomfort of seeing herself before she makes you full screen)

I'm currently attending virtual manager training. I'm both shocked and pleasantly surprised by the people in my class (77 people total) who are new to the company and are excited about joining. Not much mention of fear or nervousness or anxiety about having to be in a building with dozens of others in somewhat close proximity. Maybe they are more motivated by actually having a paying job than fear of getting sick. Interesting.

They are probably just happy to have a paying job. Several of my friends have been furloughed at their jobs. Rent is due tomorrow. I can pay mine without a problem because I've been working and will continue to work but what about all the people who can't? I don't trust landlords and creditors not to screw people over. Maybe they will defer payment but they won't waive it. When all of this is done, people may have 3+ months of rent or bills that will come "due" and they will be trying to play catchup for a long time. That puny $1,200 check is nothing for most people and what they have lost.

At the end of the day, we have to pay our bills and we have to eat and no one is really helping Americans out. Just the promise exists of some $1,200 check that won't come for at least another month or so. In the meantime, people are scrounging.

A 13 year old boy, with no known underlying health issues has died from this virus.

I feel sick. I wish I wasn't going to be giving birth during this. I resent it. I want to keep baby put until after all this is over. 25 days until baby is due.. I'm so scared.

Hugs. ❤️

Went to sleep at 1 and woke at 4 AM. I had the feeling of having to cough and ran outside for my ONE cough.

What awful times to have to do that. I had really bad dreams which has been a constant lately -plus waking up too often, etc. Next week is "spring break" - and one of his after school program will have online programming as "camp" which hopefully will be good. We just need our time to get stuff done like everyone. I hope you have a good day and, again, thanks so much for starting and maintaining this thread. It means a lot to me.

We just finished spring break - our schools are now closed until April 30th, but I’m sure it’s just going to be for the rest of the school year. However our governor can only do executive orders for 30 days at a time. Also, although we all assume the school thing I think people hearing that they’re closing for the rest of the year would freak them out.

My partner just came back from unavoidable in store grocery shopping. I wiped down everything...and then back walked and cleaned everything she touched. I’m basically following her around with a bottle of diluted bleach. I’m starting to feel a little insane.

You’re welcome.

Yeah bad dreams are plaguing me and horrible anxiety.

I went back to sleep around 630 till about 930. It is so scary to think any little cough could be the coronavirus. I didn’t want to infect my husband or the house or my son so I ran out into my backyard to cough.

Another worker in my area is under suspicion of COVID, getting the test done. I need to work an extra shift tomorrow as a result. Worried.

Fudgie, can I help from home in some way, either you directly or healthcare workers like you in my area? I work from home, am not going out, but wish to help ease the stress of essential workers. I appreciate you!

Here's hoping they come back negative. There's a youtuber called Dr John Campbell (retired nurse making videos about covid 19, as much information as he can find he shares), I don't know if you'd find that helpful or just more noise at this point but he exists if you want to have a look. Had a video on old folks homes specifically recently too.

I hope everyone's doing ok.

Edit to add: the data suggests that social distancing Is having a positive affect on reducing the rate of infection. Could be the glimmer of light

That's really kind of you, journeynow. Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything to do at this point, other than to stay home and please keep yourselves safe and healthy.

No word on my coworker. I do know that COVID is now in my facility. Great, just great. My patients haven't gotten it yet but I do think it's a matter of time. All of the doctors are anticipating bad things to happen here. Unfortunately, I agree with them. I'm getting ready for the inevitable storm.

It's infuriating that Dr. Fauci is having his life threatened and now needs 24/7 security. It's really upsetting. No respect for experts or people who are trying to help. It makes me sick. This whole COVID crisis is making me hate humans even more. Yes, there are good stories out there but the myopic, destructive things I'm seeing go on just poison everything for me.

You see how much better pollution is now? We were the REAL virus all along!

My neighbor asked if he could use our basketball hoop. I was like yeah sure. Told him to take it on his driveway(don’t want anyone in my bubble!). His wife invited like half the block over there. A little bit of sunshine and they’re all hugging and high fiving.

The worst part about this is she spends the night 3x a week at her parents’ house, they are elderly and sick(chronically). What the hell is wrong with her? What possesses a person to think their hour of socializing and sunshine is more important than keeping her parents safe as their caregiver?

Anytime someone visits it’s not a “real” visit - they drop something off and then sit in their car while I sit on the porch and talk to them. I have not let anyone closer than my driveway which is like way more than 6 feet away.

Yes it sucks! But it’s necessary. I just don’t get this mentality.
