As you might have guessed it, I'm new to the wonderful world of ladies (and terribly late at that) and while I see quite a few posts asking about advice on "how to" I don't see many about the rookie mistakes newcomers make.

So what would be the biggest faux pas in dating or sex?

What kinds of problems are you having dating other women? Or what questions? Try and be a bit more specific. It sounds like you're a writer for click bait on the internet and are doing "research". There's nothing worse than the feeling of being in a fishbowl and generalizing nonsense. If you have more specific items I'm sure others will jump in.
