It took a sharp 5th doctor to order a scan none of the others had, which is where he found the problem.

I live in one of the best cities in the US for medical care, and each doctor was one of the ďbestĒ. I have excellent insurance, so I was able to get into each doctor right away. The missed diagnoses were astonishing to me.

I now do this with everything medical. I recently had bunion surgeries on both feet, again, excellent results, but again, after seeing multiple doctors. The one who did the surgeries was so outstanding that heís now done 3 of my friends.

Itís your body. See whoever you wish.
Itís scary stuff! Iím glad I decided to seek a second opinion as he has already picked up a lot of things she has missed by just ordering some simple tests and he seems to think outside the box so to speak. I feel better in what Iím doing seeing as you went to 5 Drs before you found one you were happy with. Yes as you say it is my body and I donít want to mess around and delay treatment for fear of offending her!

Speak to your HR department about your health plan and find out if you can switch your primary physician to another one.

I am a little confused why you are tied to this one to begin with. Seeing you've seen a specialist without a referral, it would suggest you are free to self-refer and seek medical attention where you choose. Gather your files and have the specialist sign your work documentation.

Is this a workers comp doctor by chance? Or did this original Dr. place you on disability?
    It kinda doesn't add up.

In any event, talk to who ever handles the medical enrollment for your company and ask them what your rights are.

Do not worry about offending her. If she is offended, then she's not being professional and that in itself is reason to find another primary physician.

Itís complicated, I was sick and didnít know what was wrong with me so I was using my holidays leave while I couldnít work, work told me to contact my super and they would pay my wage while I couldnít work, this dr filled in the paperwork for that and diagnosed my original condition (which has since changed) and does the progress reports monthly. Would be too complicated to change dr. Your advice is good though I will talk to my hr and ask for there advice on the situation.
