reinventmyself
I wasn't on effexor, but something similar under the same class. It helped, but it took a few weeks to notice the effect and it comes on so subtly you might almost miss it. I woke up one day and thought `huh, I finally don't feel that gnawing anxiety that was grinding me all the time' That was at about the 3 week mark. The first couple days I felt somewhat nauseous. I've heard of people quitting at this point, but just know it's temporary. I am not on any medication for anxiety now, but it was useful for me at one time in my life. It can effect your ability to have an orgasm though. Everyone's different, but that it one side effect. I am glad I used it. It helped me get through a difficult time in my life. Good luck! j.man
Try not gauge other people's experiences with SNRIs or SSRIs against your own. When you're talking an individual's hormones and neurotransmitters, especially where clinically demonstrated adversity is concerned, mileage is going to vary. Greatly. Link to comment
Wiseman2
There are excellent sites to consult for generalized basic info and ins and out of a drug. Also discussions with your doctors (prescribing doctor and other doctors) and your pharmacist are very helpful for whatever specific questions pertaining to you are.. https://www.nami.org/Learn-More/Treatment/Mental-Health-Medications/Venlafaxine-(Effexor) https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-1836/effexor-oral/details My doctor is considering putting me on effexor, What has been your experience? david17
I can't predict whether it will work for you or not but I want to share my personal experience and it's really worked for me. My doctor started me with 75 mg. It took me around atleast 2 months to actually see the results and you can't imagine my anxiety is almost gone and it has helped me through depression.
