    I'd qualify this depending on your goals. If your goal is to make the person go away, and she or he is actively seeking to move, then you have some leverage because you share a common goal. I'd exploit that, which means choosing my battles carefully. Overlooking sideways behavior in favor of getting what I need from direct behavior will help me to get rid of that person sooner--and without drama.

    Negotiating an exchange of help in return for the direct behavior means that whatever snarky stuff happens on the side is irrelevant and self limiting.
