Vulvodynia

I just wanna talk about this because it's horrible.

I took some antibiotics had a pretty bad reaction to. I thought my ex gave me an STD because even though we were broken up we were still having sex but he said he only received a blow job. But I looked up only and I thought I had herpes(even though I had no bumps and I went on a health forum and they told me it could be it). So anxiety was through the roof and it made me have a really bad flare it a really bad one (I have lupus).

For the last year all of my test have come back normal. So then why does my vagina burn almost every day? Why does it randomly start to hurt? Why can't I sit? Why does it hurt more when I sit in a car? In the end they slapped me with the label Vulvodynia and Dysuria. Why because they don't know what's going on I feel like the doctors don't even believe me anymore because my vagina not inflamed or there are no lesions one of the doctors that I went to told me to do KEGAL EXERCISES. Really Kegal exercises is going to cure my burning vagina?! I don't even know when I have a yeast infection anymore because it feels like I have one all the time

So apparently the antibiotics I took injured some of my nerve endings( the lupus flare up didn't help either) because I was on them for too long.

This never makes me want to take antibiotics again.

I have always had depression and this just isn't helping it. I just sleep for more than 15 hr a day because I don't want to have to wake up and deal with it. I feel like the more medication I take it gets worse. It like my vagina is so sensitive that even my pee makes it hurt or just sweat or just water or just anything you know the white stuff that comes out.

white stuff that comes out.

"white stuff" doesn't just come out. It only comes out if there's a problem. An infection, etc.

See a different doctor. This is ridiculous. No, you shouldn't have to live with this pain, nor should you just be slapped with a label and sent on your merry way.

Try a urogynecologist, rather than an OB/GYN. Urogynecologists do not deal with pregnancy/births, so they only focus on female sexual organs, bladder, etc. When I was having horrendous issues a few years ago, I went to 4 different OB/Gyn's, who all diagnosed me with completely the wrong thing. One visit to a urogynecologist was all it took for a proper diagnosis and correct treatment.

It is either bacterial or viral. What tests have your doctors ordered? I don't know about lupus much, but maybe that could be a source as well. If all sources for bacterial or viral infection were exhausted, then I would see a specialist in autoimmune disorders.

I've had this before.... a very kind doctor said it was a low grade yeast or bacterial infection that was super irritating but not visible to the naked eye. He prescribed a high test cream that mixed a steroid with a yeast infection cream which helped, but ultimately it was me changing my diet that made the biggest difference.

Consider perhaps looking at your diet, and if you haven't already, minimizing the carbs and sugars you eat, looking at a Paleo style of eating because of your current auto-immune issues, eating lots of green leafy veggies, and adding pro-biotics, either through fermented foods like kombucha or kefir or actually taking live pro-biotics to promote a healthier bacterial balance down there. You can mix a spray of tea tree oil and water and spray it on the area a couple of times a day.

I already do have an autoimmune disorder specialist because of my lupus. I have a hematologist, urologist(went through 3 one told me kegal, other said there nothing wrong and didn't do anything about it, the other one my rheumatologist is.) , OBGYN, and rheumatologist. They done a full panel of everything and it always comes back negative.

Well I think I have this I swear. Why won't it appear on any test? Because I notice when I drink soda or cookies, just anything sweet makes it worse. It sounds like a classic yeast infection to me but idk about BV because last time I had BV it smelled really bad. I'll have to try pro-biotics again if it worked well for you.

That's probably one thing I wouldn't do which is to use oil down there. Same with douching.

Some antibiotics cause yeast infections. It's very common. That's very likely the cause of your pain.

I was just going to say that antibiotics are known to cause yeast infections after.

I take cranberry or prebiotic (specifically for vagina health) whenever I go on antibiotics, seems to work well.

But that happen a year ago. I thought it was a yeast infection but all the test come back normal.

The pain is still going on.

Your answer is unfortunately too vague. As a microbiologist myself, they don't test for "everything". For bacterial infections, BV needs to be specifically requested for a gram stain report. Usually they will subculture your sample on differential media and see if they can isolate any colonies during a workup to identify any pathogenic bacteria. I am guessing they didn't locate any, indicating this could be an imbalance issue. Antibiotics do interfere with the normal flora of the vagina and this is an acute infection, so the symptoms won't resolve until its natural balance is restored.

For any viral tests you have had in a panel, the doctor will order what's common in your region. There is absolutely no way to test for every type of virus and every strain. They do not include herpes in an STD panel, it has to be specifically requested. You must not have it performed too soon. Six months to a year is safe after the time of theoretical exposure, multiple times. Viruses need to replicate in the body, hence they have incubation times and can vary. It can take months for some viruses to be detected on a test.

Without more information, I can only ascertain to an overgrowth of yeast from the antibiotics, which may have depleted your good bacteria to combat an overgrowth. You would need an antifungal and probiotics (i.e. reintroduce lactobacillus). Sugar is essentially food for yeast, which explains the worsening symptoms while you eat it. It is also possible the antibiotic wasn't strong enough and led to an overgrowth of bacteria (BV). You would then need a stronger antibiotic with a specific targeting spectrum. It sounds like the first one but, without a BV smear, I couldn't be sure.

Pay attention to the post above and the one that suggested dietary modifications. It's very likely the antibiotics you took changed your normal flora. Look into the AIP Diet for autoimmune issues or a low carb diet like Paleo or Keto. Take a probiotic to help restore the balance and focus on some of the foods the poster in the first page of your thread suggested. I also recommend doing EFT (emotional freedom technique--easy to learn on Youtube in a few minutes) for the emotional trauma and frustration.

Yea I know that about herpes. I know how you have to request it. But my test came back negative. I can get tested again but my doctor told me after the 3 month marker I should be fine. She also told me with my weakened immune system there would be no way that I wouldn't have at least one sore or bump. Now that I think about it my doctor told me there no way it can be BV because it doesn't effect you during my period. My blood doctor all ready told me that I'm clear of any blood STDS last month.

Then who should I talk t. How do I get them to order more test? Should I just go to the clinic
