Food for thought

If it was an unhealthy and unhappy relationship yes you definitely can. I believe people often lose who they are in relationships being consumed meeting the others needs and interests. When you take time for yourself and you see what you want and don't want, you start to realize what makes you happy and you start to grow into the person you are meant to become.

Then when ready you find that person that compliments your current needs.

I echo what limichelle is saying , infact every spiritual teaching you can ever read will tell you to love yourself and discover happiness on your own to fully enhance who you are that acts to compliment your partner when you do meet someone .

As you are separated it is a perfect opportunity to explore life and yourself ..just you and yourself . Self discovery and all that .

Of course you can. Your strength and happiness should depend on yourself and not be associated with someone else. This is the story of many breakups. By depending on someone else for this, you are putting a lot of pressure on that person to live up to your needs. And when they don't you can become controlling or overly needy./
