Developmental Disability and Pica

Have any other parents of children with developmental disabilities notice their child has pica? I noticed that my son had pica about age 3. He would eat any non food item. Wood, metal, paper .... endless stuff. He ate the ends off my coffee table , the arms off my glasses, jewelry. You name it. The did a full blood screen and found he was iron deficient.

Even now the Pica has remarkably reduced but it is still there . He still ingests paper.

Do any other parents of developmentally disabled people with Pica have any suggestions ? I think now for him it is just comfort . And he only does it in his room .
