Living trough the festive season

Not sure what category best fits this...

So as we know its X-mas time again. That wonderful time of the year I cant wait enough... to be over!

The Christmas season is a highly idealised time of the year where everyone joins together with their perfect families to have the perfect time.

My family ideals are way to different from mine. While I really like my parents I couldn't live with them. I've been trough a separation and my EX doesn't grant me time with my daughter. All family asks when am I going to be with someone or makes a conversation around my separation or my cheating ex.

Socialising seems impossible as everyone is busy during the festive season.

So whats left for the rest of us? being depressed or sleep trough Christmas? I cant even work during Christmas which seems odd as everyone else is complaining the opposite lol

Keep yourself busy by communicating with your attorney about a better visitation/custody arrangement. Let your family know that pot-shots about your divorce are off limits.

Be honest and just say "this topic upsets me so this year lets not bring it up". Then make sure you do not allow that to be a topic of conversation.

Families are who they are, just minimize all the over interaction and nosiness. Plenty of places would love volunteers on holidays to help the poor and needy.

It's what you decide to make it not what your family or ex or employer decide, so try to stop blaming them.
