Poem: You Used To Haunt Me

I always had disturbing dreams

About your now faded smile

Your blue eyes now turned to grey

You stood there unmoving

Unchanging with the seasons

Your skin cold to the touch

Somewhere between city escape and the boulevard of broken dreams

You died inside

I used to almost cave into my sorrow

I tried to save you from drowning in your mind

Your broken will to stay strong, too survive

The darkness succumbed to all your needs

I moved forward

Taking with me a happier moment in time

When you used to dance amongst the Suns rays

Not let the rain weigh you down

I take that still frame bliss with grace

I now move on

For you are just an old shadow on my wall

Beneath the pale moonlight

There was no saving you

Only saving myself

I broke free

You no longer haunt me
