Is it OK to say Hi or is it clingy to do so?

So the BF is on vacation with friends where cell signals are either weak or dead spot, thus, i haven't heard from him in the past 3 days...

Today, i sent him a text message just to say hi and i'm glad that he's having a blast!

Is that an OK thing to do? Or is it too clingy? We've been dating for over a year now.
