Rape porn, why so much violence?

So after reading the thread about the girl whose bf watches violent rape porn, I typed "rape porn" on You Tube. One of the results has this title and description:

* * * * * get killed in Bathroom while a Black guy struggle her and keep her head in the tiolette"

I will not watch it. I don't need that. But I am crying inside. Why such violence? Why do so many people want to watch that stuff? Why so much violence towards women? What has the world come to? I feel so sad.

ETA sorry for breaking community guidelines. I forgot. I just copied and pasted what is widely available to the general public. The word in stars is the slang word for "prostitute".

I don't know if it's a joke. I don't know what is in there. I just know that people are clicking on the link because of the title. I also know of a website called "real rape" ("where real women are being raped and killed). I heard about it in a documantary on tv.

I'm too scared to look at/for it.

This kind of stuff makes me too scared to ever have children of my own.

Humans are a very violent species. Always have been and probably always will be.

I used to know a guy (not a friend) who was into that asian cartoon rape porn. I thought it was disgusting, even though it was only cartoons. He liked the "control" aspect of fantasy.

It scares me when I think of the kind of people who watch this stuff. It could be the guy standing next to me at the grocery store. Now that's scary!

Human nature has never lost its taste for violence. History has showed us that we’ve become more “humanitarian” towards each other to the naked eye. Things that used to be socially acceptable in the past are no longer… which results in hidden fantasies and criminal activity.

You don’t see the arena from the gladiator days, human sacrifices, genocides to acquire real estate, or torture as punishment. None of those things are socially acceptable. But at some point in time they were widely appraised. Assassinations, murder, and rape (especially in war)… Horrible things we used to do for entertainment and pleasure… but are now only seen in the less civilized/ or barbaric.

People still naturally think violently. In my opinion: all that’s changed is people’s willingness to act on these fantasies. We practice “self-control”, sensitivity towards each others thoughts and feelings and became more civilized... Yet we pick up flick about the past (Gladiator films, From Hell “AKA: Jake the Ripper”, etc) and live out our forms of entertainment in a fantasy world.

But you will still come accross the chance of a person acting on their fantasy. Which refers back to the criminal activity it causes (because it’s socially no longer acceptable), and obviously wrong in more ways then one.

Having a fantasy that isn’t seen as socially acceptable doesn’t make you less civilized. It’s the self-control and being able to control that urge. To keep the fantasy just as it is a fantasy.

I'm not saying that those videos don't exist somewhere, but I would take any video headlines on youtube with a grain of salt. First of all, youtube will not allow those type of videos, it goes against their ToS. Secondly, most people just name the video stuff like that for shock factor, or because they think that having a crazy name like that will garner attention (positive or negative) and more importantly views.

ENA posters (and other people as well for that matter) understand that “rape” porn isn’t your cup of tea. In all honestly, a lot of porn isn’t even my cup of tea. I wouldn’t like to watch someone be rape. But for some people, it’s a thrill of control. You have to remember that when it comes to people in general, a naked body is a turn on. (Think of play boy…guys look at it because there’s a bunch of girls and they can see their breast) Then when you add a little “aggressiveness” into the pile you hit into the area that’s more then less “kinky” or “dominatrix”. Some people find it trilling to be submissive or aggressive in bed.

Porn videos that are rape related are no different then the other types of turn ons out there. It doesn’t have to be your cup of tea, and maybe you wouldn’t want someone who is turned on by these videos, but not everyone cares about a fantasy.

Let’s say for example. The guy is perfect. He’s a sweetheart, treats you well, the dream man you always wanted…he supports you, holds an upstanding career, and wants to spend his life with you. But at the same time, he likes to watch Rape porn. And felt comfortable enough to share that fantasy with you. Would you really throw away a great relationship because of one silly fantasy he had?

Most people who “think” of rape as a fantasy don’t want to rape another person. But they want the control that goes a long with it. Just like the people who like to tie/handcuff etc in the bedroom. It’s the control the person has to do what they like to you… tease you, etc.

No one on ENA is saying you have to be “into” rape porn. And if it’s crossing the line in your book, then that’s okay; whatever works with you and what you’re comfortable with.

But a lot of us DO understand that fantasies are apart of human nature. You can’t control what you’re into. But you can control your actions.

And like with this girl, if it’s bothering her she should ask him about it, or ask him to choose another type of porn to watch instead.

Now some of the porn topics that you can reach into (like Child porn) I don’t understand. Why would you want to sleep with someone that isn’t even developed yet? Who is a child? That’s crossing the line in my book, and that’s exactly why it’s illegal to watch child porn. It’s wrong both morally and socially speaking.

How rape porn is video taped depends on the site your watching it. Some is actual rape, others are staged. Either way, people want the things that seem real. (That’s also why when the videos hit the web, police investigate the ones that seem all too real… Especially if the girl is murdered)…

But it is being closed minded to say that they’re despicable people because they like something you don’t. And that’s not to be harsh or anything, but it’s true. When it comes to things like this, it’s impossible to be black and white on the matter. For someone who isn’t into it, or couldn’t place themselves in the other persons shoes to understand it, they will think this way…that’s is so horrible and disgusting you wouldn’t want anything to do with this person.

When a person is called closed minded it’s because they’re refusing to think about Why someone might be interested in it. Because in their mind, it’s horrible and disgusting and would want nothing to do with it. So their stubbornness makes them appear closed minded because of that refusal to at least attempt to understand…

Call me closed-minded. all the power to you. It sounds like you are trying to get me to see your point all the while telling me I am closed minded for not seeing it.

You're not gonna get anywhere that way. shouldn't you first practice what you preach? Meaning show some open mindedness toward those who have a different opinion than yours, instead of calling them closed minded.

Which referred to the other topic… just because you’re against it wouldn’t make you closed minded. But look how you’re presenting yourself. I would be more willing to agree with you if you weren’t trying to twist my words and attack me with them. (Telling me to practice what I preach, when you actually just twisted the context or misunderstood it). Instead of asking me what I meant, you took your interpretation because you didn’t like what I had to say.
