Getting In Touch With Family

I recently discovered a way to get in touch with family members. I grew up never being close to any of my family, including my mother and father, and I've always wanted to have a close-knit family. I know "close knit" isn't going to happen this far into it (I'm 18 ), I would love to get in touch and at least spend time with them on a regular basis.

I'm not sure how I should go about contacting them, or if I should. I've never met most of them and I'm worried I won't be accepted. I feel like just some random person who wants to be a part of the family.

What were the circumstances around you not being with them now?

It's normal to want to reach out, especially at your age. I think you should try.

There weren't any circumstances other than me not seeing them very often. I feel like if I wanted to establish a relationship it should have been years ago.
