Do daughters have same pregnancy symptoms as their mothers?

I was curious if women follow thier mothers steps in pregnancy like they follow them in other areas in the female areas. Like how if moms have certain things like ovarian cancer then their daughters are at risk for getting it... or something like that... it happens in my family anyways... But if that happens then will the daughter get the same symptems as the mom did when she was pregnant? I want to ask my mom but I think she will think that I am pregnant. I don't think I am... but I've always been curious.

I've had unprotected sex with my significant other this whole week pretty much and my fertal days are Nov. 15 to the 20th and ovulation I am guessing is like the 18 of Nov. We has sex since the 15 and through out the week. How likely is it that I am not preg? Why wouldn't I be if we did it this whole week?

To answer your first question, it's definitely possible for a daughter to experience the same pregnancy symptoms as her mother did but I doubt it has much to do with genetics in most cases. My mother and I both had entirely different symptoms three times each.

Your second question is interesting. Pregnancy occurs when as few as one sperm fertilize an egg so having sex without birth control multiple times in one cycle doesn't increase the chances of becoming pregnant. You will become pregnant when you have sex once at the right time, once is all it takes. If you do not wish to become pregnant I would highly suggest adopting one of the many available forms of birth control. If you do wish to become pregnant I would suggest reading up on fertility.

I guess a daughter could have the same symptoms, but I think it would be more antecdotal than scientific.

You have as good a chance as ever to be pregnant.

I disagree though, the more you have sex, the more likely you are to get pregnant, yes it only takes one sperm. But if you have sex 10 times on the day you are ovulating and the guy releases 10,000 sperm there is a higher chance than if you had sex once and the guy released 1,000 sperm... more sperm, more chance one will make it to the finish line.

I don't think you are particularly likely to have the same symptoms your mother had. Ovarian cancer is determined partly by genes, which can be passed on from parent to child, but I'm pretty sure pregnancy symptoms are not! Especially since some women get different symptoms during different pregnancies.

Even if you have sex during your fertile period, it's quite possible that no sperm will fertilize the egg, that the egg will not implant in your uterus, or that you will have a very early miscarriage (chemical pregnancy), especially if the embryo did not develop well in the first stages. It's not actually THAT easy to get pregnant, and most women do not get pregnant within their first cycle of trying. I think about 85% of women get pregnant within a year of trying - and it's recommended that if it takes more than a year you consult a fertility specialist.

Good luck getting pregnant! I think some women find it useful to track their ovulation using cycle charting so that they can pinpoint the most critical days of their cycle.

that's technically right. it does only take only one sperm. BUT, if you have sex often during your fertile period, you are MUCH more likely to time it right than if you have it once because you are regularly supplying fresh sperm to the mission.

just say you ovulated on thursday. you KNOW your fertile period is tuesday through saturday. if you have sex one of those days, that gives you about a 20% chance of hitting the right day. if you have sex 4 of those days, that gives you close to an 80% chance of hitting the right time.

I agree, but from the first post it wasn't clear that she was trying to get pregnant so I was looking at it the other way.

Later I told her how to get pregnant after I knew that was what she wanted.

about the symptoms: i actually get very few pregnancy symptoms.

my mother had no morning sickness with either me or my brother.

i have had no morning sickness with either my first pregnancy or this one.

HOWEVER, my mother suffered terrible sky-rocketing blood pressure during both pregnancies.

my blood pressure has actually been on the low side for my pregnancies.
