Ummm.. ok dont know how to ask dis... So, me and my girlfriend have a healthy relationship for the past 1 year. Our sex life has also been great. But recently she has been wanting to try anal. Actually, let me be more elaborate .. she wants me to cum in her ass.

Now dis is where I really am not sure if it is safe cos i hv heard all abt stds and stuff and I dont want to do anythin that can cause her any kinda harm. Maybe its just a taboo aspect(the fact dat i wont b using a condom) in my head thats perhaps worrying me ... i really am lost n confused on this !

Can anyone please advice me on this ?

I can't speak from experince, because this act totally doesn't interest me.

I really don't think it could be safe, not from an STD point of view (which would also be a concern) but from the fact is she wants you to cum in her, that means you'd be putting your unprotected member into an area that has a lot of bacteria that could get, umm, well shoved up your urethra and cause some problems. Bacteria from your digestive tract is good where it's at, but causes infectons when it gets in areas it shouldn't be. That's why females get urinary tract infections from wiping back to front, instead of front to back.

I know the porno's do it, but I wouldn't look to those as the gold standard of cleanliness.

It's unsafe to be having unprotected sex with her no matter what whether you cum in her or not.

Obviously judging by what you said, you have already been sexually active together so if STD's were a concern you have already been exposed unless you have been using condoms (even then there are a few STD/STI's that condoms won't fully protect against)

Have you both been tested for STD's?

and besides the STD factor, there is so much bacteria lingering in that area that you are running a risk even just having anal sex without a condom in general.

Essentially, this is a medical question. I'm pretty sure this would spread an STD assuming either of you have one. Failing that, spread of bacteria could lead to infection in either of you. Personally, I don't think there's a great risk if you don't do it all the time, but that's just my opinion.....

dan39 - be very careful with that thought of 'if you only do it once in awhile'. There is risk from the very first time and it doesn't matter the duration or frequency.

Just like having unprotected vaginal sex - if you only do it once in awhile, sure your risk of std's or pregnancy are not as great - but should one take that 'chance'?

Yea I'd like to make it clear, it's NEVER a good idea only doing it 'once in a while' if you unsure whether or not either of you has an STD. I was referring to the risk of bacterial infection. Still, it's still probably not a good idea to risk it for this reason either.

oh yes.. both of us are clean .. meanin no diseases or infections !

Still if she is strongly urging me to do it wat shud i do ? I hv already had a talk wit her on this ... dat we need to be very very careful "if" we are gonna even goin to do this .... and dat i need some time to think on this...

She could still get pregant from anal sex! The two openings are not very far apart you know and there are like a zillion spermies in just one drop of semen!

I was thinking the same thing. When you pull out, a stray drip could end up in exactly the wrong spot. Although pregnancy is unlikely to happen in such a fashion, I'd still consider it to be a risk.

Please please please use proper grammar. It is fairly exhausting trying to understand your posts when you're typing like "dis" and "dat" it really makes my head hurt!

I wouldn't risk it! Use a condom, because as said by other posters, there is still a chance of pregnancy and other infections.. It just isn't worth it.

Ok, ok. I'll be honest here. I have anal sex with my boyfriend, and no, we don't use condoms. I have been tested for STD's and so has he. We're both medical students so we understand the importance of this. Health Promotion!

There's nothing unsafe about you ejaculating in her rectum. Yes, you may shove fecal matter up your urethra in the process, but it has a longer distance to travel. You need to make sure that you ALWAYS pee after having anal sex. Your girlfriend should always urinate after sex in general, even if you're using a condom. This is because your testicles "milk" (yes, my medical books use that term) bacteria from her anus into the vagina. So the best thing to do is to urinate. Most common cause of a UTI (urinary tract infection) is from E.Coli (poop). Even after you have anal sex with her, you CANNOT put your penis back into her vagina. You have to be very, very safe with this. You need to ask her about her past sexual partners.. I'm guessing you already know, but you can't always be too sure.

If you're going to go ahead and have anal sex.. use as much lube as you can. People use spit sometimes, but forget it. You need a water based lubricant, because anal sex for the first time can be very painful. If you're doubtful about whether or nto she has STD's... you should wear a condom. Just not a ribbed one. It feels like a toothed comb up your backside.

you can't get her pregnant from anal sex..

listen, guys, even if a little tiny drip of semen lands on her labia, chances are her thighs will rub together and it will move. She'll wipe it away or the bed sheets will soak it up. Semen has to be ejaculated on her CERVIX, to get into her UTERUS. If she gets pregnant through anal, and because the separation between these two cavities are thin, she probably has an anal fistula, which would mean she'd have feces coming out of her vagina already.

So no, this cannot happen.

Well no, you cannot technically get pregnant from the act of anal sex, it's the before and after that's in question. Mostly after. Personally, I'm afraid of one sperm near my vagina, let alone millions upon millions. If in a hospitable environment, sperm can live for up to 5 or 6 days. Not using protection is playing with fire, whether he technically cums inside her vagina or just cums near it. Better to be safe than to say, "oops, I guess those little guys CAN swim! I'm preggers, sweetie!"

well, that's true.. I dunno. I believe that's why health care professionals also want you to pee after you have sex so you flush out anything that's left! I hope anyone that's having sex without condoms is using the pill and taking it religiously. And true.. yes, semen can live for a long time. It takes women 3 days to get pregnant, blieve it or not. That's how long it takes for the sperm to reach the egg. It doesn't happen immediately.
