The OP referred to Hell as a place and made references to death. I don't think I missed the point. If the OP asked what I considered hellish maybe, my answer would probably have been different.

Do people really buy essays and if yes why?

I've seen plenty of books of essays. I dont think anyone would buy a separate essay unless you could pass it off as journalism or something and sell it to a newspaper or magazine. There are plenty of newspaper columns that I would describe as nothing more than essays. Have you considered a blog? Selling advertising on your blog? What are your essays about?
