Designer Rachel Roy collaborated with Grammy award winning British singer and songwriter Estelle to design an exclusive jewelry collection for the Rachel Rachel Roy brand, a division of Jones Apparel Group.
The limited-edition, limited quantity collection, which was co-designed by Rachel Roy and Estelle, gains its inspiration from culture, art, music, photography and philanthropy, according to the creators. The range will fgeature a series of beautiful necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings that were designed with these aspects in mind.
A mutual love of fashion jewelry brought the designer and the singer together and the new line reflects their affinity for color and materials such as resin, hematite and yellow crystal. The collection embodies the essence of the Rachel Rachel Roy brand and features large statement items that are balanced with a feminine edge.
Founder and artistic director Rachel Roy said that working in collaboration with Estelle was a true pleasure for her, and that she loves Estelle's sense of style and her ability to take risks. "I think that to be a trendsetter you have to take as many risks as safe turns," Roy added.
In her turn, Estelle said that what she loves about Rachel is that her look is unpredictable, meaning that one day she could be in a cocktail dress and the next day just in flats and a little jacket. "No matter what she is wearing, it always looks appropriate. Rachel has great style and I loved collaborating with her on this line," the singer said. In addition, Estelle is scheduled to perform at Macy's Herald Square in New York City on April 1st for a special promotion of the new capsule collection.
The Rachel Rachel Roy collection will also include affordable contemporary sportswear, footwear, handbags and jewelry. The prices of the items range from $34 to $195. The collection will be available for sale beginning March 2010, exclusively at select Macy's department stores and online at www.macys.com and www.rachelroy.com.
