Beyoncé Launches New Fragrance 'Heat'

By Margarita Nahapetyan

In February 2010, Beyonce Knowles, a movie star, fashion designer, and talented singer, is launching her own scent, a fragrance called "Beyoncé Heat."

After many years of appearing in perfume ads for other designers, such as Giorgio Armani's "Diamonds" and Tommy Hilfiger's "True Star" fragrances, the 28-year-old celebrity has finally created her own eau de parfum. The triangular-shaped bottle is red and gold, Beyonce's favorite colors, and it is specifically designed to look like it is on fire and both vintage and timeless.

And if anybody is wondering where the name "Beyoncé Heat" came from, the singer's past tours are exactly what inspired the name. A lot of Beyonce's performances have had fire involved, so she and her collaborators came up with the name 'Heat.' Also, red and gold are one of her favorite colors, and so then the team thought of making the bottle look like it's on fire. Beyoncé said: "I love antique bottles - my mother had a collection of them when I was growing up. I wanted something with an antique yet modern feeling." She added that even with her wardrobe, she always tries to find things that have a little bit of something vintage, and yet still classic. The bottle, the star felt, was a great mixture of the two.

Beyoncé worked with Givaudan's Claude Dir and Olivier Gillotin to create her first scent, which will retail from $39 for 1oz bottle to $59 for 3.4 oz bottle of the eau de parfum. There will also be a Gold Sparkling Body Lotion for $24. The fragrance is said to be a lively mixture of a variety of notes including of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and luscious blush peach; a heart of sweet honeysuckle nectar, almond macaroon and crème de musk, and a drydown of giant sequoia milkwood, tonka bean and amber.

The fragrance is expected to be a huge hit with Beyoncé's many fans all across the world. If everything goes well, we can expect to see a collection of Beyoncé fragrances in the future, as has been the case for most A-list female singers including Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton.

The celebrity herself is sure that her fragrance is a unique expression of a woman's powerful sensuality. According to one of her interviews, the scent thrills and enthralls, drawing you in. And at the same time, it is elegant and very feminine, carrying a trace of mystery. The star said she created this fragrance for self-assured women everywhere, for women who "are not afraid to desire and to be desired."

"For me, fragrance reflects a woman's attitude and unique sense of style," said Beyoncé and noted that while she uses and loves various perfumes, she haven't found a scent that truly personifies her as a woman. Working in collaboration with Coty, gave Beyoncé an opportunity to turn her ideal fragrance into a reality by creating an alluring and sophisticated fragrance - one that's reflective of her inner power.
