The Search For Clarity: What To Do When The Answer Is Murky

Faced with confusing or difficult situations, it’s not unusual to find yourself spiraling into confusion. Searching for the answer can become an endless loop of circular thinking and dead ends. You know what you don’t want and you have an idea of what you do, but finding a path to the future can feel like a chore. This is especially true when it comes to boy problems.

Whether someone is dating, breaking up, considering marriage or beyond, there are boundless opportunities for missteps and misunderstandings. The open road ahead can be daunting, making clear decisions nearly impossible. Even with a support system of friends and family, everyone makes their own choices and each step requires a certain leap of faith. It’s natural to have doubts, questions and concerns when navigating the often murky waters of relationships, the key is to find the trust needed to make it to shore.

This isn't to suggest, however, that blind faith is the only option. Without sufficient trust, it can be hard to move forward, but these troubles can be avoided if steps are taken to successfully build a bridge between doubt and commitment.

When you don't understand something, the best thing you can do is ask questions. Asking for clarification allows for fresher perspectives to bring in a breath of clarity. But the trick is to go about it without sounding interrogative or transparent. Refrain from asking questions with specific answers in mind, and instead focus on gaining understanding from another vantage point. You may discover that others see something you don't and this can help guide your decisions.

Understanding and consideration go hand in hand; when approaching decision-making, both must be applied. Knowing how to listen and learning to discern the difference between healthy boundaries and being controlling helps curtail conflicts. Open communication and respect for the opinions of others will get you far in taking the right action.

Sometimes it's necessary to step back and just let things happen. Structure might be desirable, but remaining flexible and allowing spontaneity to steal the show can prevent us from sweating the small stuff, fostering happier outcomes and healthier resolutions.

It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the thought of making mistakes, risking disappointment or even failure. Yet when we remain positive in the face of difficulty it does wonders for maintaining our sanity. Reframing negative thoughts with positive affirmations can be empowering, providing newfound courage for conquering life’s challenges.

Though taking our own advice can be difficult at times, ultimately we are responsible for our own actions and keeping our eye on the prize and not the predators lurking in the shadows of our imaginations. In the tumultuous sea of boy problems, it can be hard to keep our heads above water, but having faith in our inner strength, listening to our hearts and letting the pieces fall where they may, can be a liberating experience.
