A Surging Passion for Extracurricular activities amongst Teenagers

For years, adolescence has been labelled as the time of procrastination and play. Despite this unattractive reputation, increasing numbers of students are determined to display a different story. An influx in enthusiasm surrounding extracurricular activities has encouraged many teenagers to discover qualities hidden within them and bring them to the surface.

In recent weeks, student engagement is at a scorching peak. Alongside their academic studies, many students are actively exerting themselves in theatrical productions, book clubs, chess teams and the occasional yoga class. It's evident that this commitment- demanding hobby is favoured by those aged 13-19 more than ever.

The craving for outer-curriculum experiences has benefitted these aspiring teens in a multitude of ways. Many teens have used the activity to challenge their social freedom. Earlier on, schools encouraged children to lean towards extracurricular activities as an integral part of identity exploration. This period marks an era of pushback from society's conformity by allowing them to embrace the true colours of their interests without judgement or ridicule.

Friendships exist everywhere throughout our lives, but it is especially exclusive to those who spend their after-school hours with teammates and classmates. These relationships can show signs of sheer loyalty and longevity, even after graduation. An extracurricular activity is an essential platform to create these bonds, as a fundamental element of shared investment will always bring individuals together, especially when they have common ground to stand on.

Similarly, this newfound eagerness has moved many students closer to their career paths. For example, several students have decided on embarking upon business courses after becoming heavily involved in the entrepreneurial society, due to the inspiring and resourceful setting of the group. Whereas a large number of sports fanatics have taken advantage of the professionals in the mentor program, which allows members to request feedback and provide advice on exercising and leading a healthy lifestyle.

We may believe that there's room for criticism; however participation in extracurricular activities is in fact meticulous, rather than frivolous. Such activities promote emotional balance and better decision-making skills. Through them, teenagers gain access to firsthand experience, allowing them to build a variety of skills (such as problem-solving and communication) required for professional development.

Albeit, some cons require a dab of self-confidence and few nerves of steel, adolescents frequently discover an abundance within themselves that was dormant against the strict academic environment. This surge initiates their future decisions and gives them a purpose that changes drastically over time. It has become evidently clear that students, today, are embracing the advantages of extracurricular activities like never before
