Dear eNotAlone: I am feeling very perplexed and bursting with emotion right now. I think a girl at my school likes me, but I'm not completely sure. I don't know how to tell if she does. The situation is really confusing for me and I need advice from someone who can help me understand it. I want to know if there are any signs or clues that indicate that a girl is interested in a guy.

Trying to read someone else's emotions can be difficult and is often a confusing experience. However, there are some signs that you can look for which could suggest that a girl may be interested in you. If someone enjoys talking to you, touches you when they speak, laughs at your jokes even when they're not that funny, looks into your eyes for longer than usual, or copies the way you move or behave then these could all be indicators that they may have feelings for you.
Another way to tell if she is interested in you is to look out for body language clues such as a genuine smile, relaxed body movements, being facing towards you in conversation, playing with her hair, or gently touching your arm when speaking.
If you're still uncertain, giving her a compliment here or there can be a great way to gauge if she reciprocates your interest. Pay attention to how she reacts to this. If she looks away bashfully, blushes, giggles, or smiles wider than usual then these are all good indicators that she may like you back.
It can be nerve-wracking thinking about how to approach someone you're interested in but it's important to remember to take your time. Don't be afraid of rejection - being open and honest about how you feel might just bring an unexpected but welcome response.
