Actress-singer Lindsay Lohan is all set to expand her fashion line by introducing her full collection of clothes in autumn 2010. Lohan had first released her 6126 stylish leggings label in 2008, and since that time it has certainly come a long way. More brand extensions, including cosmetics, handbags, shoes and jewelry are planned for 2011.
Following the leggings label's success (they have achieved sales of $3 million a year), the plan is to create the 6126 clothing line around a young contemporary price point with contemporary styling. The Fall 2010 collection is being described as 'edgy-cute' and will include many new styles of leggings, bustiers, vests, tops and dresses. According to reports, the new range will feature around one hundred pieces. The 23-year-old star is planning to keep the prices of all her items very varied so that they can be affordable to all. For example, the leggings would cost you around $18, while the leather jackets would be retailed at about $300. And if everything goes well and as planned, the collection will be extended to 150 items by spring 2011 by incorporating handbags, shoes, jewellery and cosmetics line.
Women's Wear Daily reports that Lohan is not just letting her name be used for this brand. The Mean Girls star is really very actively involved in the design process and in all aspects of the business, especially when it comes to selecting fabrics and trims and to actually trying on finished items before they are released to the market. "She is intimately involved from day one. She picks fabrics. She looks at trims. She picks buttons. She does not let anything go into production without trying it on," said Kristi Kaylor, principal at 6126, in a Women's Wear Daily report.
Naturally, the actress-come-designer has revealed the news about her expanded contemporary apparel 6126 line during the Christmas break through social media sites, Twitter in particular. "I need more followers, I am so sad about this, how can I tell everyone about my 6126 full collection coming out? All clothing!" Lohan wrote. She twitted about moving forward, not backwards, and leaving all the bad (people, habits, and negative energy) behind.
The brand 6126 was named in honor of Marilyn Monroe's birthday, because, as Lohan said in a statement at the time, Marilyn represents timeless, confident glam and that is the voice of her label. It looks like Lohan seems to prefer numerical nomenclature with her Sevin Nyne skin care line standing for her lucky numbers seven and nine.
Lohan will also still be keeping her position as artistic adviser for fashion house Emanuel Ungaro, even though her first debut there can be called disastrous. The man who hired her however, President Mounir Moufarrige has since quitted his position.
