Paracetamol=Tylenol, how much is safe?
I have a wrist injury buy my doctor won't prescribe me stonger meds.
I find taking 4 Tylenols 500mg each(we call Tylenol paracetamol here in aus) eases the discomfort somewhat. Anyone know how much Tylenol you can take in one go before it becomes dangerous? Thank you. P.S. I'm 6'2" and 195lbs if that helps. Cheers.

I've never found that Tylenol does much to relieve severe pain. If I were you I'd switch to Ibuprofin or Naproxen. Those two are anti-inflammatory as well as pain relievers.
How often are you taking that dose of Tylenol? Its a high dose, but not too high. Tylenol has been shown to cause liver abnormalities at higher doses or with extended periods of taking the drug. |

Thanks Avman. I'm allergic to Ibuprofen though, irritates my stomach and makes me nauseous, so that's a no no. I've been taking these 2000mg doses for about 5 days now. Hoping to stop soon though once my wrist feels better. So 2000mg still in the safe range if I don't take it for too much longer?
I've seen some tablets with Naproxen but they have some pseudoephidrine in them and my body get's over excited from the latter so that's a no go zone too.

Ugh, that sucks. Well yeah then I guess Tylenol is really your only choice. You could use aspirin, but if you have a sensitive stomach it probably would cause problems too. Everything else I could recommend would require a prescription.
I wouldn't take that dose any longer than a couple more days. If you could cut back to 1500mg you'd be in a safer range. Keep it elevated and don't move it around much. I feel for you. When I broke my ankle I happened to have a small supply of vicodin left over from a neck injury. I don't know how I would have slept without it. |
