Person I like smokes weed, making me anxious
I met a pretty awesome guy about 2 weeks ago. He's had a long past of abuse as a child and all sorts of terrible things have happened to him, but he just recently moved her where I met him. Despite all that, he's really fun to be around, funny, easy going, and a great conversationalist. One of the most important things is he's really driven and is striving to get his life back in control (he was just shot 4 times by his mom's boyfriend, he finally decided enough was enough and moved out of his mom's place). Now, there's just one problem. He smokes weed for medical reasons, he has ADHD which isn't really noticeable, and because of the pains he has. It's just that, I've heard pretty bad stuff about people who smoke weed regularly. They have multiple personalities, are depressed later on, unintelligent, etc. He hasn't displayed any of these (yet) except if I mention to him something specific when he's high, he usually won't remember later on. Now I'd like to really get to know him and see where it goes from there, but I just can't stop being anxious about this. Should I give him a chance, because I really do like him. I just don't want problems to occur later on. :/ I'm confused, any feedback/advice is welcome. Thanks in advance!

I just want to be clear... he smokes weed for ADHD? Do they prescribe weed for it now?
I really don't know, that's why I'm asking. |

Yes, he smokes it for his severe ADHD and for his physical pains because he was shot 4 times. He has a doctor's prescription for it and orders on how to use it, etc.

Is he prescribed the weed or is it a self-medicating effort? If the former, at least he'll have some guidance from a doctor and some better quality control on what he's taking in.

Okay, if he has a doctor's prescription for it, and is under doctor's supervision... well, I'd say trust in the medical professionals on this one.
I can understand why it would make you anxious - you care about him and don't want anything bad to happen to him, especially down the road, from side effects. He sounds like he is trying his best to move onwards and upwards with his life, and you genuinely care for him, so I would suggest sticking it out with him. Does he talk about his medical conditions with you at all? |

No no, like I said, it's from a doctor. He has orders to use it and isn't "street" weed or anything. I've just heard a lot of terrible things about people who get started on smoking it: they eventually seek harder drugs, they get addicted, negative affects at an older age, etc. It just makes me really, really anxious. But I like and care about this guy too much to not give him a chance at all because of it.

I smoke about 2-3 grams of weed every day, ever since I was 14.
I am now 19. it doesn't make me a less eloquent person, nor does it make me a bad person. I just don't let the government dictate to me what is moral and what isn't. if I had a child, I'd rather he/she smoke weed ANYDAY then drink alcohol, if I had to pick one or the other. in fact, I'd be genuinely pissed and would probably ground them if they drank alcohol, whereas with weed, I'd just give them a talk alcohol kills and destroys lives. weed just makes you mellow. |

Oh, and medical marijuana isn't full of the extra crap that street weed can carry. It's never laced with additional drugs or anything, which should offer some peace of mind.

Yeah, he told me pretty much right off the bat he smokes it and likes smoking it, and that he has a very overactive mind. And you're right, I do care about him after just 2 weeks, if things got really serious and something bad happened down the road I'd be pretty crushed. He is, as he puts it, a bit "F'ed up" because of what he's been through. I just don't see any of these negative side effects, except a little forgetfullness when he's high, in him right now.

loll no dealer would lace weed. it's so much cheaper than other drugs, it'd be dumb to sell laced pot.
