Do psychologists hypnotize their patients?
Ok I have been fascinated by this subject. My friend is going to give me a psychologist's number. I should have gone to therapy earlier.
So do they hypnotize people? I was just thinking - If I attend one session, would he hypnotize me and get to know all my secrets? That isn't really bad as I don't have any bad ones but I still want to know. I have never gone to therapy so forgive my ignorance on the topic. |

Some psychologists specialise in hypnotherapy treatments.
And, no she/he wouldn't get to know all your secrets. You first have to a candidate for being hypnotised. it is not like that garbage you see on TV. That's about as real hypnotism as WWF is wrestling.

Not unless you specifically go to see a hypnotherapist. And even still, you will just not be hypnotized to do something against your will.

I do not think they can get you to do things you do not want to. I would also not trust a hypnotherapist I met only once or anything.

hahah, no, they won't hypnotize you. usually the first few meetings with a therapist are just basic fact gathering - they'll ask you about your problems, how you feel, what's your family history, etc.... if you do go down the hypnosis route (which i have never done!!!) then they will ask you if you would like to do that.

there are many forms of therapy.
ask the type of therapy this person uses. you may be thinking of NLT therapy. type NLT therapy into your search engine it's an amazing subject. they can not force you to do anything. check out NLP therapy i think thats it not NLT

I've never been hypnotized, but some therapists I've been to do specialize in it. I've been asked before if I want it, I've always said no.

Hypnosis is a therapeutic tool, but it would be unethical to hypnotize anyone without their knowledge and consent. The point of therapy is to develop a trusting relationship, and, through this relationship, help the person. Revealing information about yourself is a process that takes place as you feel comfortable with the counselor. I would suggest that you share your concerns with the therapist.
