Non-religious forms of celibacy
I finally decided - romance is not for me.
After numerous thoughts I came to the conclusion that everything revolving around romantic relationships is a total waste of time for my personal objectives and a hurdle to my ultimate goals. I also think that this will be the most happy way of life for me. In the end, I believe that I don't want to commit to any individual person without any guarantee that there's a "return on the investment". Dating, flirting, seducing, having sex, and then breaking up... like the ants. Monotonous and un-innovative. I am a very social and extroverted person. I "bridge people".... I often thought of becoming a priest but I don't want to be bound by religion. I was wondering whether anyone else here ever thought of this... and what suggestions you have |

What are the goals you have that the romantic relationship effort will dissuade you from reaching?

Celibacy due to lack of availability has occured in my life (lol) so therefore involuntary. However, there have been times where I just couldn't be bothered to pursue anything.
OP, whatever makes you happy really. Whoever dies with the most "happy" wins!

I love this! Do you mind if I display it in my signature?

At the end of the day, that's what it's all about anyway. Being happy and true to yourself. You don't have to follow any sort of rule book when it comes to life, you live your life just how you see fit.

You know what you want and that's a good thing. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Apart from the time problem, I'm a renaissance man. I have multiple career objectives, have an extremely alternative lifestyle and extremely un-conformist views on life and society. I am thus a highly uncompatible partner unless I make efforts to conform to standard dating and relationship rules... which I don't feel are worth it because I don't even agree with most of the existing social norms on dating and relationships. When I say I don't agree, I'm not talking from an instinctive level, but ideological and philosophical/ethical/moral point of view. |

Just do what makes you happy. You might meet someone who suits you along the way. If not, no loss.

I am currently celibate. There's not really a lot to it. I don't have sex, I'm not getting into any relationships.
If someone came along who I thought was great, well I've not taken any vows.
