Weight LOSS on Yaz BC pill?
So I'm 24--I've been on and off BC pills since I was 13. I was on several different ones when I was a teenager--it kept changing because our insurance kept changing and I was always on the cheap generic ones. Some were fine, others made me not have a period at all for months at a time. I did notice that I gained quite a bit of weight when I was on the pills and often times I had a pretty low sex drive.
Well, all of my co workers are on the pill and I've been off of it since my fiance and I broke up about 2 years ago. I am newly in a relationship, went to the dr, got everything checked out. One of my coworkers was on Yaz and she actually lost weight...as in, it just kept coming off. She wasn't doing anything different at all. I'd sit here and watch her eat complete junk and she kept loosing weight. Meaning, she when she started working with us she weighed 165 and ended up around 143. She eventually stopped taking Yaz because she was having breakthrough bleeding a lot, and when she stopped it, she stopped loosing weight. I've actually seen online several places that people have lost weight or at minimum *not gained* weight on this pill. Not to sound vain, but it's very important to me that if I start another BC pill--I do not want to gain weight. I recently lost 50lbs over the past year or so, putting me at a healthy normal weight and I don't want to gain any back(if anything, I'd like to lose another 10 and I'd be right where I want to be!). lol Any one on it? I started two days ago--so far no side effects, no nausea, nothing to note. Then again, my body isn't very sensitive to many things any way. In fact, I rarely have any menstral symptoms at all, that I notice. Any way, thoughts? Edited to mention: My period started late Monday and I got the prescription for Yaz early Tuesday. The instructions said I could start the pills within 24 hours of my period starting, so I did. It was odd though, because 24 hours later, my period completely stopped, so the whole thing was over within 2 days, having started late monday and being completely 100% over with by midday Wednesday, which never happens. Not that I minded though. Also, today is day 3 and both yesterday and today the scale showed a 1lb weight loss. So, two lbs down from when I started--though, I know there's a good chance it's just water shifting from the hormones..but still, no gain! So I'm happy. I lost weight initially and then gained. It also made it very hard for me to lose weight and made my boobs enormous. Once I got off it, I dropped 10 lbs very quickly. That was among the least drastic of side effects for me though.

Really, the only bad side effect I had was that I had to have my periods every 28 days according to the pills. My natural cycle is more like 36. So, I felt like I was always on my period. It didn't feel right to skip the placebo pills and not have a period, even though you can.

I also have a friend who lost weight on it after gaining on others. When she first switched, though, she didn't, it was only after she started skipping the placebos. She didn't lose an unhealthy amount, but I think overall, she lost about 15 total.
I wish I needed it because I could stand to lose about 15 lbs~LOL! |
