Duking it out with another pet sitter!

Man I'm so annoyed...
My uncle and his partner are out of town this week. When they travel, I stay over at their house and take care of their 7 dogs and a cat. This weekend I thought I had to be tehre all day Saturday and just till the afternoon on Sunday, as they said their other pet sitter (the woman who did it before I started doing it for them--since I'm family and stay overnight, they used me instead of her when I started) woudl come the rest of the week, b/c they are trying to get her back into the routine of how to handle that many dogs since I'm giving up the business.

Turns out I misread their email and she wasn't going to be there till this evening, which means I left the dogs alone in the house and in kennels (not cages, as they have large kennels they can walk around in) for 24 hours. THe only reason I went by today was b/c I was going to walk them all down the street to the park for exercise (since this woman doesn't do that).

I got there and noticed no one had been there so I called her and asked when she was supposed to come. I figured out I had it all wrong and I told her I was there and that I woudl feed them and everything. They were pretty much already eating by the time I was on the phone with her. She said "Dont feed them, b/c I'll be there around 730" (it was 530 when I was there). I told her I was already feeding them and she can come and just let them out. She said again not to feed them b/c she wants them on her schedule (these dogs are used to eating by 5 every day...with 7 of them, they very much have a routine). I told her they were already eating them and she started going off on me. I offered to take care of them the rest of the night and she can start coming tomorrow. She said no that they have already paid her and she is sticking to her number of visits. We got into it and she called me a "mean dumb b****". Can you beleive that? I ended up just hanging up on her b/c I wasn't going to let her talk to me like that, and I called my uncles to explain what happened. They said it's ok, it's just a mess up, not a big deal (the reaction from them I expected).

This woman has always been crazy. I've always disliked her. Even my uncles say she's nuts. She's very controlling and set in her ways and charges SOOOO much for taking care of people's pets (I used to fill in for her).

She ende dup emailing me what they had scheduled with her, nothing else. I wrote back that I fully admit that it was my fault, taht I cleaned up the pee that was on the floor and started a load in the wash of the blankets that got dirty and apologized for any inconvenience. I didn't write her any nasty words.

With me giving up this business, I was wondering if I shoudl refer people out to her. I've been toying back and forth with it but was wondering if I shoudl b/c she charges so much more than I do per visit and I don't feel my clients should have that much of a price jump(most other pet sitters don't charge nearly as much as she does either).

I'm just so annoyed. They're my uncles, I was already there, why wouldn't I feed them if I messed it up? Was I in the wrong for feeding them? I want to continue to go each day to walk them all down to the park like I was planning, but I don't want to run into this lady b/c I don't doubt at all that she woudln't let me leave till I heard what she had to say. Ugh.

These are some lucky animals! People dueling to the death over their care!
But yes, that is totally crazy. Sheesh. I absolutely hate people like that.

I don't see why she would go off on you? I mean, I'd see it as a favor that you were coming over to take care of things. Regardless of your professional status, they're your Uncles. I'd wait in a dark corner and scare the heck out of her when she comes in, LOL. No really... just let it slide. Your Uncles did choose her, regardless of your feelings for the lady. But definitely DO NOT advise your other clients to use her. In fact, you could even black ball her with other clients... saying something like "Use anyone but THIS person." Totally bad karma on her part.

She said "I don't even know why your'e over there anyway!" like I was going against her to go over there when she's supposed to be taking care of them. I told her I came to take them down to the park for exercise and that I had talked with my uncles about this before they went out of town and they were grateful for that. Why woudln't she want me to feed them? She's effing crazy.

this lady has always considered me incompetent. she's really ridiculous. doesn't ever let you get a word in and doesn't understand that you do things a little differently than she does. she went into a whole speech once about how to carry the keys around when i've never had a problem with how i handle my keys. she just coulnd't understand it...i hate her.

this is the email i got from my uncles this morning. i can't believe they're allowing her craziness...

Quote:
While we appreciate your offer to go by and take the dogs to the park this week, it might be best, based on the recent circumstances, that you not do that.

G had already asked S to make sure that Fly got a walk. S is going to be there three times a day so if you were to go by, there is a chance you may run into her. For your sake, it is probably best that you don't run into her right now. Also, I don't want it to appear to her that we don't think she is covering everything.

Hope you understand. I knew when G mentioned that he had told you to go by during the week that it was not really a good idea. This could be misinterpreted by S. Let's just leave it that S will cover till we get back. After that if you need to come by and do laundry or whatever, you are more than welcome.

Wow, that lady sounds ridiculous! I'm sorry, yeah you made a tiny error but resolved it and remained professional. There's NO reason she should have spoken to you like that!

I wouldn't refer clients to her! Eek.

No that's not how you express love! You express your love by calling her a dirty little ***** and slapping her in the face with your penis!

Wow, I'm really happy to see how you handled the situation with much professionalism and dignity.

That sucks that your uncles actually kind of "accepted" her douchiness. :/
I dunno.. on the other hand at least now that you're out the picture you won't have to bump into that ol' psychotic petsitter over there. She has some issues.

Their loss and their money!

I'm not lookign for my uncles to stand up for me but I don't understand how someone would want to use a person who's such a B. I feel awful that I misread the email though and left the dogs for 24 hours I'm such an idiot.
