weight fluctuation messing with my head...

So I have been thinking about going on a healthy diet and was trying to see what worked for you. (No unhealthy ones please.)

From moving in with my boyfriend to working to getting on the pill my weight has just been up and down. I really want to get a nice tone body back. I just don't know what might be the best way to go about it cause no matter what i do I don't seem to notice a difference. Its starting to make me feel less attractive and a bit sad, lol. I am not overweight I just want a healthy, stronger and more fit body.

What foods do you eat?
When and how long do you exercise?
what do you do?

THANKS A HEAD OF TIME.

I am a vegetarian, I start each day with a big glass of water (and coffee). Lots of veggie burgers & almonds. And I stand/walk all day at work.

I don't work out as much as I should anymore. My body looks fine from my eating & work lifestyle but I couldn't run to save my life right now. And I was a good runner a year ago, too.

Exercising burns calories, but the most important factor I think is diet. It's much easier to moderate your caloric intake throughout the day than to burn them off in a 1/2hr-an hour workout session.

Talking My Routine

Morning:

1. Positive self-affirmations as I commute to work ("I am healthy" etc)
2. Workout 1-2 hours on arc-trainer at work (kinda like an elliptical)
3. Breakfast: Fruit (apple or grapes) and yogurt
4. Lunch: Two big plates of salad (romaine lettuce, chicken, light cheese)
5. Late afternoon: Second short workout or stretching/yoga
6. Snack if I need it: apple or carrots
7. Dinner: 300-400 calorie meal with pasta (spaghetti, pizza slice) and veggies
7. Snack: cheese and crackers (I love that!); jello; yogurt if desired

Throughout the day: Water and Gum

-So, I eat very very healthy foods (in a very high volume so I am very full/never hungry). At least 7 servings of fruits and veggies a day. I try to have protein with the meals (not necessarily the snacks). I have lots of carbs but mostly through whole grains.
-I count my calories on a daily diet journal. I eat between 1400 and 1800 calories depending on my activity level. Ideal is 1600 for me. (I do better with keeping the calories lower when I get more sleep.)
-I burn 1000 calories, at least, a day with cardio mostly. I try to do weights and yoga as well.

I stick with it every day.

I lost 140 lbs five years ago and I'm just super motivated. Also, I've grown to really love the exercise. It's my 'zen' time. I also really love the foods I eat. You have to find a balance that works for you. I wish you the best.

Join a community like nutracheck.co.uk or caloriecount.about.com they provide tips and ideals/goals based on your measurement and lifestyle. So if you kept a food and excersise diary you'll be able to see exactly why you're gaining, and losing, and will be able to amend where necessary.
