Smile Help me lose weight!!!

Alright, here's my food journal to give you guys an idea of what I'm eating every day.

http://www.enotalone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278807

I'm also going to be running 4mi or so a day, at about a 10min mile pace (i know, slow..give me a break, I haven't ran in a year!)

I'm basically clueless about the things I should/shouldn't be eating... Can someone PLEASE advise me?

NOTE: I'm a broke college student, can't afford to talk to a nutritionist, join a gym, buy free weights, etc...So, running will be my exercise. I have the P90 X videos too which I may add in as my body gets used to things.

Help? Anyone? Please?
I'm trying to cut out ALL pop (soda for all of you non-michiganders) and sugary crap. I've switched to iced tea (unsweetened) which is sucking so far, but I'm managing.

I know my carb intake is kind of high, but all of my carbs so far have been whole grain or in the form of beans for the most part--no white, starchy stuff (except for my ice cream slip up).

Hellllpppp

My goal is to lose 30lbs. I'd like to lose a LOT more than that, but I'm starting with 30.

So, basically:

What should I be eating?
What should I be avoiding?
Is 4mi of running a day sufficient or do I need more?
I'm so confused and so desperate to lose weight.

Cutting out soda is a good start! You don't realize how bad it is until you stop. So good for you on that!

Yeah, I think soda is soda. Diet or not. But once ya cut it out, you will seeeee! It'll be hard. It was hard for me, but I did it! I still have an occasional coke when we go out to dinner and such. It's just not my main beverage anymore. In moderation...in moderation lol

hahaha, I'm the person who drinks a 2L of diet coke a day
I'm on day 2 with ZERO pop... day 3 with minimal (maybe 8oz or so? Whatever was left in the bottle)

Caffine is a drug. So you are weening off. Like I said, I've been there.

Coke was becoming more of a downer for me. Plus I noticed the weight gain and weight loss when I went off it.

Good luck to you

Thank you!
It's not necessarily the caffeine that's getting me so much as the pop itself. It doesn't matter if it's diet coke or diet sprite to be honest...just pop...any kind of pop

What are some good alternatives? Crystal light? but that still has that aspartame crap in it. kjfksdjaf

Diet soda is worse for you than regular soda because it carries artificial sweetners which lead to stomach ulcers and can cause major stomach damage in the long term. Your eating plan looks really good and you should do very well with it if you get a little active. Remember that change takes time so be patient and stick to it and you should meet your weight goals.

Oh you want the aspartame? I was gonna say why not go for juices instead? The natural/healthy stuff?

I was gonna post a thread like this but asking advice for my bf. He's overweight, more then you and like you he's also not able to afford a nutritionist, expensive crap, etc.

I've been racking my brains out trying to come up with a few simple solutions: I think the key to lose and keep it simple is to just eat 5 times a day.. in PORTIONS!!! Smaller ones. (Ever noticed how you don't really gain when you eat junk food but only a few bites? Same applies to eating rice, pasta and other things which are considered fatty. Stay away from them but if you must eat, eat as little as possible.)

Breakfast, snack, Lunch, snack, Dinner.

As snacks choose 2 from either: (dry) fruits, veggies, yogurt, cereal bars (special K is yummy), and other healty things you like. Even cheese and crackers are ok in moderation.

Im glad you're gonna be walking. It's about as important as the healthy eating for weight loss achievement. Walking is just as good as going to the gym and getting on the treadmill. Even better since you'll be running. You go girl! Lol.

Try and get as many fruits and veggies in- even though I know it can get expensive buying the healthy stuff. I say buy a few fruits so you get more variety of things you like. If you work or go to school stick an apple in your bag or pear.

Fill up on 10 glasses of water thru out the day- not all in one time like I used to do lol. Then end up going to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

For breakfast I think something yummy but easy to make is a hard boiled egg sandwich. Or cereal. Turkey, cheese and other sandwiches are ok too IMO.
