Making a Will

so i had a question, about wills.
I want to get one made up. The recent loss of my cousin has really spurred me to do this because i have been putting it off too long and my animals need to go to certain people i trust who happen to be outside of the family.
Does anyone know how to go about this? i'm not at all interested in doing this online btw.

If you don't want to do it on line then you need to see a lawyer.

Yep- a lawyer. Online and DIY are risky as laws vary by locale, and are also constantly evolving.

EQD,
Start making a list now, of what and who. It will help you think about the special things that might mean something to someone.

Definitely a lawyer. I've had 2 wills drafted now (one when I was single, and a revision after I got married), both times it was a relatively simple process and didn't cost all that much.

ETA: I also had a health care power of attorney ("living will") drawn up at the same time. Altogether it was 3 or 4 different documents to cover a catastrophic situation that rendered me unable to speak for myself or death. Less than $300 both times. Well worth the peace of mind.

Look up what kind of will you might want. Then figure as much as possible to lessen the cost when you do see a lawyer. If you are going to do a living trust you need to remember to fund it so there will be money to carry out your wishes. Google some key words and you will be able to learn quite alot so you can have everything ready when you sit down with legal.
