Anyone know any good programs for beginner's yoga?

Hello,

I've decided to try yoga and I'm not sure where to start. If anyone is familiar with the topic and could direct me to a good starting point it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have a YMCA in your area? I knew absolutely nothing about yoga when I joined but I found the program really easy to keep up with at the Y.

I started with a DVD a.m./p.m. yoga. Has a couple of 20 minute yoga sessions on it. I found it a great starting place....

I started out with "Yoga for Dummies" DVD. Actually, I'm still on that DVD. But I love the girl that does it. She's so relaxing without being cheesy, and I like to do it on my own time in my own home.

Otherwise, I'd check out the YMCA or another community fitness club nearby.

I've been told thermal yoga is a good place to start since it keeps your muscles loose (it's what I plan to try - I've never done it either)

That's what I was gonna suggest!

Not only is it a fun way to do yoga but you get to do it in the privacy of your own home so if you suck (like I do) that way you won't be completely embarassed attempting to do it in public (at a gym or ymca type place) where you are surround by a bunch of yoga gurus who make it look like you have no clue how to do any of it lol

Thanks, all! I think the "Yoga for dummies" disc looks like a good option (despite the self-depreciating negativity of the title ). I think I'll give that a shot. It's cheap and I won't have to spend any gas to go to a class. I bought a disc by some guy named Bryan Kest but it moves way too fast. I can't keep up with it. I'm gonna need to work myself up to that level. Right now I need something that will take me through the steps slowly and it looks like that disc will probably do the job. If I don't like it then I might consider going to the Y. Thanks again! I appreciate it!
