Natural Sleep Aids

Does anyone know of any natural sleep aids?

I'd rather not get a prescription, and I'm not even sure I would qualify for a prescription..I just need something for when my head hits the pillow my body will shut down.

I've been running on about 3 hours a night all this week..and those three hours are packed full of dreams so that I constantly wake up.

I know the underlying causes, its big, broad and obvious [mother dying..] but I just can't continue on, function properly at my jobs, and get ready for year end crunch time with school..and keep going this way.

Consider exercise as well, if you don't already do it. It might clear your head and make sleep physically easier at the same time. I know it's helped me to get some rest during stressful times.

I use 5-htp everynight and if it gets bad, I'll use melatonin and it knocks me right out.

Also, bedtime tea from Yogi tea is amazingly good and relaxing.

Annnnd lastly, Gaba Calm also really helps relax.

i might have to get me some. i don't fall asleep until late...VERY night.

some more inquiries about melatonin:

-how much is it?
-what is the best form to get it in? is it liquid or a pill?
-will i wake up late for work taking it?

i know everyone has different reactions, but are there any side effects?

Melatonin is pretty cheap, $10ish.

It is a pill whenever I've had it, they also make it sublingual where you just put it under your tongue and let it dissolve.

I have never got up late the next day because of it.

However I did read that it can affect your testosterone levels, which can affect your mood, so look into that. I don't take it every single night because of this.
