Question Gambling?

Hello all...It's been an extremely stressful week for me...I'm a college student..I'm weighed down in work...My girlfriend recently found out that she has herpes and I'm waiting to go to the doctor soon to see my condition soon. We've been having some arguments here and there. Nothing too serious...However, I found online gambling as an outlet to help me deal with things.

A week later I'm down $70 and I really want to stop. I feel like I can stop. I was up almost $100 dollars at one point and keep feeling the urge to make that money back.

I have a job that supports me at school, but at the same time, I'm a college kid who doesnt have a lot of money.

I exercise daily, have a lot of friends, and a great social life. Good home life. But for some reason, I felt the need to gamble and I feel dirty. How can I rid myself of this? I know it'll take a lot of self-determination.

Do you have a counselor/therapist at school? You might want to make an appointment. It sounds like you are either addicted or very close to it.

I'm not addicted and I feel like I don't need to talk about it. It's only been going on for a few days. I'm just looking for some tips to stay away from it.

When you feel this way there is something going on. But suit yourself.

I strongly agree with Avman.

Hi,
Gambling is something you need to get out of while you still can! Specially online gambling. I'd refrain from going to the sites full stop and if needed cancel your credit cards (or however you pay for it NOW!)
Try to keep busy with other things and know that though gambling is fun and mind numbing, and you get a high from winning, it's a bad way to deal with things.
My dad and his now ex gf where gambling addicts. They always will be and if they have the money are have acces to go to casinos believe me they will spend. At least for my dad it never reached a point where we had financial problems... as far as I know anways. I know he's lost ALOT of money though in the past.

His ex gf... Meh. She isn't as well off or good with money I guess. And she makes ends meet but that's about it. Maybe try reading those self help books about MAKING money and creating huge savings. Being more money concious may make you want to spend much less on gambling? Just an idea...

As for your gf and the herpes, been there. I know it's hard. But I think you need to be there for each other. Don't turn to online gambling or other things. I mentioned in a previous thread of yours I cried for ages after finding out. Luckily/somehow my bf doesn't have it. He felt just as bad though watching me go thru it. But he was there for me to support me.

Do you and your gf plan to stay together? Or is it all still in the works?
