My Poor Skin :(
I can't take my skin anymore!
I stopped the pill [birth control] just before Christmas, I was on it for a good..7 years? Since I've stopped my skin has just gotten worse and worse..worse to the point where I am starting to get breakouts on my chest and back ![]() Will this level off? Or was the pill really doing that much for my skin I was on it for such a long period of time and everything was good, I struggled a bit with my skin, but I would go months with flawless skin..I don't know if this is my body adjusting, or just my body! I almost want to go back on the pill, and just deal with the lack of sex drive..thats how awful I feel right now. I can't get into my family physician for a good month, and I am debating trying to take something orally as I am not on the pill and it won't interefere..but also just debating getting back on the pill. I feel so gross! Any advice/comments is appreciated!

This is obvious, but...
I'd recommend calling a dermatologist. Your doctor will probably just send you to one, anyway.
I put off seeing one for years about a minor skin condition that I had. I wish that I hadn't -- when it began to bother me a bit more, I went to a dermatologist. He spoke to me for about ten minutes, took a couple of glances at my skin, and sent me away with instructions to use a cream that would clear up what I had, and to not come back for a few years unless I really thought that I needed to. It cleared up right away and didn't cost much at all. |

We oddly only have two dermatologist in our city.
My friend waited over a year to get into one. That's really the only reason I haven't considered it.

Frustrating!!! Is it bothering you enough to try the next city over? If not, maybe you can Google the problem. I think that this is somewhat common -- maybe someone has shared some home remedies or over the counter solutions.

I've been on several things in the past prescribed by my doctor, they worked for a brief period of time then stop working.
I was prescribed something topical in October and it was working, but now it's doing nothing. I'm considering taking something orally, the dr had recommended some things but said she'd rather not prescribe them because I was relying on the pill as my main form of birth control..but now that I'm not..I'd be willing to look into it. But I am also just plain torn on going back on the pill.

When I stopped the pill I broke out like crazy! I had to get back on clenziderm and within a few days I cleared up.

There are times a general medical doctor will also prescribe treatments for your skin. It wouldn't hurt to ask if you can't get to a dermatologist.
And yes, for some reason dermatologists seem to stay mad busy. I had to find one a couple of years ago for my son when he had a very bad break out of psoriasis and i had to keep going on waiting lists, my MD said that derm's stay way backed up all the time. I had to get my MD to make an appt for me as an emergency just to get in. |
