How to prevent oily skin?
Im just wondering is there anyway to prevent oily skin on my face? In the morning i wake up i would wash my face and it would feel soft and clean. But around noon or so my face started to feel oily and nasty.

Sadly, I've never found anythihg which really beats oily skin. Be gentle with it, and don't use strong astringents (which will only encourage it to produce more oil).
You don't say how old you are, but once you get to 35+, you will be very grateful for the oily skin which really, really slows down the ageing process. I know people who are 10 years younger than me who have worse lines! |

Spironolactone helps with that (prescriptions) as it cuts down on the amount of sebum. Not sure how well that would work on a man, though

i found that neutrogena is really drying. you might want to switch brands. do you use a tonner/moisturizer that isn't oily afterward?
when you overdry your skin, it overproduces oil to compensate. |

ok ew, don't do that.
get another cleanser. it's too drying for you. that means you need something gentler. i recommend eau thermale avene and be sure to follow up with a good FACE moisturizer. a body lotion is often way too harsh for your face skin. i just use vitamin e from jameson... relatively cheap. but you should try for something for oily skin. get something water based. biotherm is a good brand. |

You can't really change your skin type. If you have oily skin, you are actually lucky, since this type of skin doesn't age fast. But you have to take care of it as it is difficult to keep clean and is pimple prone.
This is what I find helpful. - drink plenty of water, include fresh citrus fruits, leafy vegetables in your diet. - clean (using non-soap based cleanser. I use "Fresh Foaming cleanser" from Neutrogena and plenty of lukewarm water. Clean 2-3 X/day if required), tone ("alcohol-free toner" from Neutrogena) moisturiser (use something recommended for oily skin, something that is water based. I have tried olay moisturiser for oily skin and was happy with it. Try samples and see which one feels "light") - apply sunscreen (SPF 15, 30, 70 depending on darkness of your skin color. The darker the skin, lower the no. I've wheatish skin, I use SPF 30) - use loose/compact powder to reduce shine. - facial for oily skin once a month. |
