Spiritual Question..

For those of you that are spiritual I want to ask your thoughts on this. When ever something happens good or bad do you see it as a positive? Like it was meant to be so something better can come? Or does somethings mean just what they are bad? can something happen to say "Hey you made a mistake and now your paying for it" ? or does everything that happen have to mean it happened for the good?

Generally I try to stay positive even about negative things that happen when they relate to myself. Yes my breakup was hard, but it taught me something that I needed to be ready for for the next girl. If you think that you are paying for it, you will always feel like you are and you'll be miserable to be around. "Oh no, that girl said no to the date, must be because she hates me..." when actually she is in love with that other guy.

I am spiritual and I always look for the silver lining. I don't, however, always find it at least not right away.

I try to see things positively, even though they don't seem to work out for the better at first.

The things that don't work out generally points me towards new opportunities in my life.

Things start out as negative, say my break up for example. It crushed me, couldn't figure out why it happened, didn't want it to happen, and I saw it as a punishment. In the end I came out stronger than ever and learned some lessons. So..things may sometimes seem negative or bad, but in the end they turn out for the better. That's how I see it.

There is always a learning experience. That is the positive you can take from any situation. The opportunity to learn something you didnt know.

i try to be grateful in any situation. i practice "at least statements":

if i am really cold, i am grateful for the coat that i know i can put on, for example.

if i'm really angry about something, i'm grateful that i can come here or go to a friend to get the anger out or to feel better.

that puts me in a better place when i do that.

I don't see it as good or bad, but has an experience. If something great happens that brings joy, I soon move forward. If I cling, I can easily be egocentric, or yearn for it to happen again. I avoid believing that I will know everything. What people hear and see me do in this moment is an expression of who I am in this moment. It isn't the end-all, just a passing. This is very true as a musician: There is an endless amount of ideas and information to absorb, so much that you will always be a student. However, you still have to say what you wish to say. Those who claim to know everything about music, or about life, are mistaken.

Just my two cents.

I am coming to believe (or see?) that there is nothing inherently good or bad, except that in the stories we tell ourselves about something. We wouldn't suffer if there was no story about how this relates to us and our self-identity, would we? When we wake up in the morning, we reformulate the story of "I", "Me", and "Mine" again, so that we have continuity from day to day, but our interpretation of events, our perceptions and the ways we attach to them are what infuse these experiences with good or bad judgments. If something causes us suffering, it's "bad", if it causes us enjoyment, it's "good" but apart from our thought process around events, it's just stuff happening.

Through the lense of human emotion, there does exist good and bad. We can't say it doesn't exist at all.

But it's only a narrow band of the spectrum as I see it, of reality. The greater reality is that there is just phenomena, and it's all occurring. There is no judgement "out there". Though I do believe that there are some fundamental laws, and a mysterious force that creates checks and balances even in our human lives as it applies to our stories. If we do something that causes harm and misery, that will bear some "fruit" along the way somewhere; and if we do something to alleviate misery and create joy in the human heart -- that very subjective instrument -- that will also bear its "fruit" along the way. So we will experience through our hearts and minds a sense of good and bad in ways that don't translate well anywhere else except in the language of the human dimension.

May I suggest a book for you to read?

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I have this book and when I start to feel down, I often refer to it.
