depression
i woke up today and realised that everything is fked. i'm 40 years old, unmarried and with an alcohol problem. never a day goes by where i don't think of when i was young and i was happy. i used to be strong mentally and physically but now i've become so weak that i'm incapable of even standing up for myself. i've reached a sort of base level where i have no pride in myself, feel vulnerable and exposed. if i had the courage, i would kill myself but i don't so what life i have is a torment. there is an old saying a coward dies a thousand deaths and that sums me up.

Hi,
I'm so sorry you feel like this, but you have to think, your life is not over. You have years and years ahead, and you have the capacity to make them better. Have you joined AA? You obviously recognize that you have a drink problem, and the fact that you have posted on here suggests you want to change. Being fit mentally and physically is still attainable, but you have to do it without the drink, and therefore joining AA would be a good move i think. Hitting the gym is also the best way to get your mind off things. In my experience, when I've had depression and problems, the gym gives you minor goals to achieve which boost your confidence, and also makes you look better, as well as the adrenalin which tops you up and gives you a rush. Please don't give up. |

you've got to pull yourself out of the grudge and seek professional help. joining AA or getting yourself a psychologist might be a good way to start. getting back to a point where you feel in control of your life, and feel like you have goals and aims wont come without some hard, hard work. but it isnt impossible and we are all here for you.

Mate, the fact you can identify that you have a drinking problem, and the fact that you are pointing out ur own flaws is fantastic. because that means, you can improve on the areas, wherest if you just ignored the issues then you would never be willing to change.
Everytime i feel inspired to change something in my life. i start with my list. 1. Set day to day goals. (eg buy less alcohol each week untill you feel you are comfortable with your drinking) 2. Set longer term goals. ( ideal weight, body fat, muscle tone, feeling of worth etc.) 3. Surround yourself, with people that love you and are willing to help you progress in your journey of self improvement. 4. Keep yourself mentally active and physically active. - Join a club or get good PC game, or start running, swimming or something. Hope there is something in there that is of assistance. Well done in acknowleding the issues, |
