Drugs that cause impotence....
So....I have this drug to take thats anti fungal...the pharm told me theres no side effects. Then I go online and it says it can cause impotence and a bunch of other stuff. Not really trying to ask for medical help here, but just wondering, if it does cause impotence, is it permanent? I've seen that word before on other drugs, its not until now that I google it, I found out that impotence means sexual dysfunction or E.D. Cause that reason alone would stop me from taking it...

Most drugs don't cause permanent impotence. If it is anti-fungal, you are probably just supposed to take it for a short time. Also, sometimes in "side effects" are listed all the POSSIBLE ones, though there may be just a short list of what's common and not all people may experience them. So - worse case scenario is that you could possibly once and awhile have problems getting it up while taking the med, and best case is that it will not effect you one bit.

If it does cause impotence, I highly doubt that it would be permanent. Most drugs that do cause impotence, cause temporary impotence. Also, if the pharmacist says there are no side effects than I would probably agree with them. They know what they are talking about when they administer the drugs, whereas the internet holds a lot of misconceptions and false information. I wouldn't worry about it.

The other thing you need to keep in mind with people's online posts about drug reactions is this: They may be connecting two things that happened around the same time but were not really related.
If I start taking a medication and a couple days later, I get a headache...it doesn't automatically mean the medication caused or contributed to the headache. If I get a headache every time I take a medication, consistantly, for a large number of doses....then, you might have reason to suspect a connection between the two. Go with what your pharmacist told you.
