Does Pilates help with weight loss?

I read it only tones, is it true?

I did a pilates boot camp dvd and let's just say I was on the floor in a coma at the end... and I dropped weight... so it worked for me, but I'm also overweight.

I lose size by toning, not weight. But the overall health benefits and injury prevention are worth it.

I studied to be Pilate's Instructor and what you say is true, so I agree with Cotuner's suggestion. In fact in my case I didn't reduce weight but I lost cm

so if I did like Taebo and Pilates together everyday I should lose some weight? I weigh like 140lbs and I am like 5'5. Is that considered fat? I'm slim but I have a round butt. I'm black

i love pilates. it help a lot with the toning and raising my energy levels, so that i could also do cardio workouts such as spinning and kickboxing. i droped 2 sizes

I think pilates will help you a lot to tone/firm up.

I need to start doing them again. Stupid winter eating.

my mother was doing pilates for a while until she hurt herself (unrelated to pilates). she was losing weight. plus she said she felt much more limber and agile.
