The Power Of The Internet Is Scary....
So, this guy I've been talking to online. We straight away started talking on the phone after meeting about an hour online (long story)
Hes normal, he seems it anyway but you obviously can't be too careful. We have only ever given out our mobile numbers. The other day we were fooling around for some reason and he said his home number really quick, But I happened to catch some of it. It might sound strange but I heard most of it and jotted it down quick on some paper without him knowing. (Just as a lead in case I ever wanted to check out who he was online- or you know not that this would happen but so if anything dodgy happens online....you have a lead.) people obviously arent going to give you loads of information about themselves to people they meet online. Well he showed me his house once on google earth just for fun. So I know where the location is obviously lol. I decided to just do a random search online today just to check him out. I ended up looking at a map of all the roads around his area and found his street name!! I know his last name so I put that into the online phonebook and also put in the first three letters of his postcode (that i was able to find out through the street name) about 7 results popped up, it gave me the last name, street he lived on and the phone number looked very similar to the one I had jotted down (I had only got one number wrong) Obviously I knew it was him because both the last name, street name and phone number looked identical. But now this online phonebook has also also given me the house number and the full postcode! Now I have his entire address and home telephone number!! I am not going to stalk this guy or anything but when all this information was being revealed to me it just fascinated and shocked me at how much you can find out on the internet!!!! |

Yeah it's scary, hence is why I never, ever, reveal any 'real' info about myself, including name, surname or address, nor 'exact' location and I never have.
You can never be too careful.... |

I relied on google and other sites when I met men through on line dating sites to confirm where they lived, worked, marital status, educational status etc. Very often they gave me their last name (I wouldn't meet without knowing that). There were several men I declined to meet or stay in contact with because I found out lies or weird stuff through my internet research. Saved me lots of wasted time

I don't believe that people can be traced, unless they have a name for you and even then, a name is not unique to one person. I once did a quick search of my name in Google and hundreds of people worldwide, came up with the same name I have.....I found NO INFO about me personally. That is because there is no info online about me... |

Yeah, best way to go Batya
When I searched his last name in the online phonebook the first letter came up with an 'R' and then the last name. Hes suppossed to be living with his parents. Which I do believe is true. A lot proves it. But his name begins with an R...I was thinking, surely that cant be in his name? When I speak to him today I shall be asking him the names of his parents in a subtle way... |
