Allergic rash from Cajun food?

I woke this AM to find a large red rash on one side of my face...very bright red! I get milder rashes there from shrimp and chocolate taken in excess!
I wonder if it may have to do with the spices in Pulled Pork BBQ, I tried out a new place for lunch yesterday. It wasn't there when I went to bed...and I have no issues with my meds, no new detergent, etc.
TIA,
KG

I'm not a doc, so I don't really know. I've never heard of facial rashes from chocolate or shellfish, but I do know that people who have Celiac disease (who are gluten intolerant) often get a red flush when they eat food with wheat gluten. Could you be eating a lot of bread with these other foods, and could that be the common denominator?

KG, perhaps you should go to an allergist to get tested?

Get the whole array of test to find out what you're exactly allergic to. It could be a number of things and just because you weren't allergic to something before doesn't mean you can't be suddenly allergic to them now.

I'm actually thinking about going myself so that I can find out what I'm allergic to before I blow up like a balloon again.

It's possible. I have family members allergic to anything garlic and another anything mango. Weird.

Found the answer, kind of....Tumeric! I got some Cajun when we went on vacation, face did the same thing...called the place I ate at, asked what was used for seasoning...Tumeric, same as the other place. He said that even getting it on sensitive areas can cause a rash in some people...I did wipe my mouth with a napkin, cuz it was so sloppy...that's where the rash appeared! And there are lots of red spots around my lips.

Wow, very interesting! Glad you figured it out.

(If it'll do that to your face, I wonder what it does to your insides!?)
