That wasn't so bad- Drugs are fun! Adventures in wisdom teeth removal.

The surgeon who worked on my mouth yesterday was awesome. Except for this one bastard tooth...felt like he was going to pull my jaw out with it. The needles were awful though. It's like when you go to get a filling and they give you a needle in the worst spot...well it was the worst spot all over my mouth. Jaw, gumline, etc... it hurt. I cried a bit and then went to sleep. Even though everything was frozen, I could still feel when he cut into the gums, but I was high as a kite so it was all good lol. They gave me powder instead of pills. It made me want to sleep more than anything...any time he came back into the room, I'd be asleep again and he'd have to prod me awake.

Other than that, I barely remember anything. I don't know where I "was" the whole time. I was REALLY suprised by the fact that I couldn't walk! I got up, felt fine, then proceeded to nearly fall over LOL. I remember the whole office going "Woah, dude, hold on to her!" as I wobbled my way from one wall to another hahaha. I don't remember getting home at all though, and I"m really not sure how I made it up the stairs. Drugs are fun. I was kind of * * * * * y too. When we got home, Alex (the boyfriend) wouldn't let me go to sleep because of all the meds in my system. Something about a coma... (I didn't believe him because I slept through half the procedure) so I was mad at him. Ever been weepy-tired? Well I was. Poor Alex... But he went and got my meds, which I had completely forgotten that I would need. These guys loaded me up. I've got $90 of meds in five bottles. Drugs for sale! j/k I don't like them. They make me nauseous. I'll just stick to my liquid Ibuprofens thanks.

Haha I got mad at him again because he wouldn't get me pudding. Yogurt and ice cream suck, don't be fooled. I tried to eat a freezy but it tasted like beer when it was supposed to taste like mango. (I HATE beer) Same with vegetable soup. Even those little noodles and veggies are too hard to eat. Doesn't matter anyways because my stomach feels gross and my tastebuds have left the building... So yah, it's a relief that I'm finally done, and the uber-sensitive teeth have already calmed down now that nothing is pushing on them. RELIEF at last! * * * * this was long... I took one of the little painkillers earlier, it made me a little bit high and rambly.. I've slept and slept, but I still feel loopy. Anyways, for all those people out there who fear this procedure, don't even waste your time being scared about it. It's easy. My mouth is kind of sore today, a little bruisy, and I can't open it very far at all, but compared to all the horror stories I was told about it, this is nothing.

Yeah I got all four wisdom teeth out when I was 18. I looked like a little fathead frog for more than a week afterwards.

They knocked me out to take them out. That was the first time I have ever had anesthesia, and I figured out it pisses me off. I don't remember doing it, but my mom said when I woke up the doctor asked me how I was feeling and I said, "F--- you, a--hole." And I was calling the nurse a b---- and cussing at people in the lobby. They wheeled me out in a wheelchair and wheeled me past everyone shouting obscenities and then I got even madder because they wouldn't let me drive. I don't remember saying any of these things, so when my mom told me I was mortified, but I couldn't stop laughing. I don't remember saying anything, but I do remember being annoyed when I woke up. And it's so stupid, do you know what I was mad about? I was mad because when they stuck the needle in my arm, I thought they were going to tell me to count backwards from 100. And they didn't. They stuck the needle in my arm, and the next thing I knew I was waking up madder than raging bull with all this gauze in my mouth.

Haha. Anyway, I was just going to tell you that if you're a smoker, now is the perfect time to quit. You can get dry socket which is extremely painful. And if you stop now, by the time you're able to smoke again, the cravings will be gone.

Hmm I don't have one. I've just been touching my warm hands to my face. Feels good. I can't wait to feel better and go back to work.

What did they give you for the pain?

Whenever my pain pills make me a bit nauseas I eat anything that is heavy and sits on the stomach BEFORE taking the pill. If I forgot to do that and feel my blood sugar drop and feel the nausea coming, then I just eat a fruit Popsicle and lay down. Works 80% of the time for me.

Man, you're lucky.

The procedure itself was painless for me, I don't even remember leaving the place I was so out of it. Even the following couple of days I just slept. Unfortunately, I developed dry socket AND then got an infection on top of that. My mouth couldn't open more than an inch for two weeks. I did lose about 15 lbs, though! Not trying to scare you, just advising that you be extra careful. I followed all of the rules and it still didn't work out too well for me. I swelled immediately, though, so you may have nothing worry about.

Good luck!

One of the sites is hurting so badly today. I slept all night and all day. This one spot really doesn't look good though. The stitches are starting to dissolve and it just looks and tastes so nasty. I have a feeling that I am going to lose at least 5 lbs.

lol Yeah I know, I had a couple of my back molars removed and know the pain and swelling that goes along with it.

I have a couple suggestions to make that may help you out Redroses.

Have you tried Aleve? It is Naproxen, which is an anti inflammatory. It works MIRACLES on this pain as it will help reduce the swelling. I had a friend that just had hers removed and she kept thanking me when I got her some Aleve.

Ok I was trying to think of things today that were soft and soggy to be able to get past all the swelling.

Potato soup, mash the potato chunks that come in it.
Mashed Potatoes, add more milk and butter to make it even softer.
Bread pudding, I know it isn't the best tasting but...
Beef and chicken broth, possibly try soaking bread in it...?

I hope you feel better soon Redroses. *hugs*

Thanks hun! The pain is much better today. I ate a little bit yesterday, just a half of a boiled egg and a few spoons of veggie soup. OMG it all tasted so good. Like a feast But I still could only eat the really mushy stuff, like the carrots and alphabet noodles. I think my meal today is going to be mashed potatoes, extra soft. When I'm better, the first place I am going to is Wendy's for a burger and fries. I don't think I've ever tried Aleve. I have T3's, APO-Ibuprofen, and some kind of fun narcotic mix. I hate taking drugs.
