Smile A very female post: all kinda beauty secrets

I'm sorry I'm such a girl but I couldn't resist! I just thought it would be cool if we all wrote what little tricks we use to say look good in outfits, loose weight, have clear skin, glossy hair, white teeth, you name it-any beautifying secret you have-please do tell!
I'll start with some of my own which I have picked up from books, people, models, television etc.
-Using vaseline on your eyelashes makes them grow faster and is a good alternative to mascara which can make eyelashes fall out.
-Drinking hot water and half of a freshly squeezed lemon first thing in the morning before eating is a really good way to boost the metabolism and clear your pallette.
-If you have acne there is a brilliant smoothie you can make which really worked for me when I was 15: Creamy Mango Smoothie
-1 mango
-1 bannana
-wedge of fresh coconut
-1 orange (freshly squeezed)
Blend the mango, bannana and coconut. Add the orange juice, mix well and serve. That plus dermatologica face wash got rid of all my acne.
-Taking fish oil pills is amazing for your hair and skin as well as boosting concentration.

Please post your tips !

Oh wow, thanks, lol!!!! I like that smoothie idea! How many times a day and week did ya have to take the smoothie? For how long? What face wash? LOL! I'm super curious!!!!

Hmm I don't know if I have any! But I use philosophy supernatural foundation, its the best ever. Bare mineral sucks unless ya want to use cream/liquid foundation underneath.

Makeupalley.com has reviews on make up and such to help find out whats good to use or not from other people, from past experiences. So ya don't waste too much money by knowing what good or not.

Not quite sure on the name but I think its MD Skincare at Sephora, thats really good for your face. These pad things, the back ones I heard are really good at clearing back acne.

The smoothie was amazing, I drank it every morning for about two weeks and I used "dermalogica" face wash (kinda expensive but VERY WORTH IT) and by the end of that two weeks I kid you not I had shiny clear skin!
Ohhh thanks for the tips I'll be sure to check that website out. Argh I love sephora-they recently closed down all sephora chains in the UK for some strange reason so now I will try to buy that in france.

:LMAO! I thought you put the smoothie ON your face until i read this post! OMG. LOL I was thinking i am not sure that is a good concoction to smear all over the skin. LOL

i dont have a lot of tips other than the mainstream ones or at least not that i can think off the top of my head other than using a witch hazel to prevent razor bumps when shaving the bikini area (or any area). Only about a dollar for a large bottle and much cheaper than the stuff they sell for it.

Oh another one is for those who want to use self tanners. The trick is to take a shower before using the product and loofah your body from top to bottom. Then put on a nice moisterizing lotion. THEN put on the self tanner. Not only will it last longer and go on streakless you wont get the blotchy look as quick when your skin exfoliates as you have already sloughed off the bulk of it. Shower and loofa when it does get blotchy and repeat. No one will know the tan is fake! I have not done this for years but when i did no one ever knew my tan was from a self tanner.

I'll post more if they come to mind. I know i have more i just cant think of them right now.

Dermalogica is a pretty well known brand, I'm certain you can order it off the internet somewhere, I dont know where you live but I'm pretty sure they sell it in the UK, US and in Europe, not sure where else though.

Hmmm some other tips:
-If you plait your hair at night and sleep with it you get beautiful waves the next day.
-If you have a dry itchy scalp rub 1tsp of vinegar in your hair and rinse out then shampoo as normal.
-Wash your face with a muslin cloth rather than a towel cloth as its much softer and doesn't have the harsh effect of a towel.
-If you want to make your cheekbones appear more defined take the tiniest smear of vaseline and rub it across the top of the cheeckbone to the bottom and then apply a little bit of cream blush.
-To keep your cream blusher on apply the tiniest dab of powder blush on top so that it stays on for hours.
-Always keep clear nail polish in your purse so that if you have a ladder in your stockings you can stop the ladder getting worse by applying a little bit of the clear polish to the ends of the ladder to stop it spreading.

Thanks for the tip JadedStar-shall try that I'm awful at self-tanning and also I'm very pale so I always look orange haha.

-I don't use soap on my face. Instead I use the oil cleansing method with only castor oil. Gets all the makeup off and surprisingly has gotten rid of the problem I had with an oily face!

That's my only beauty secret...haha

for scars: curcuma or turmeric. MIRACLE! it stains your skin while you have it on and takes forever to wash off.. but once you're done.. the scar will be gone. at least it worked for me.
