Wisdom Teeth

My wisdom teeth have been bothering me lately. The dentists told me to get it removed a couple years ago, but my insurance won't cover it. I know I really should get them removed but I'm a little scared of what to expect.

Can I get some advice from those who had theirs removed and those who didn't? Thanks.

Ok, I will tell you my experience. My oral surgeon said my teeth were the most difficult wisdom teeth he has ever removed. I drink a lot of milk and have really strong teeth lol. Anyway, it still was not terrible. I was awake. I did not feel any pain (he was very liberal with the numbing shots, I counted and he gave me at least 20, and you don't even feel them), I only felt tugging. I am happy I got them removed. I have a small jaw and I feel less pressure on my other teeth. They were kinda cramped before.

Even though you waited a couple extra years to get them removed, they can't be more stubborn than my teeth! You will be fine.

My dentist put me to sleep. All four were impacted and the recovery was painful.

I don't think there is much to do but get them yanked. rip the band-aid off sooner than later.

I just carried around for two days a big bag of frozen peas for the swelling. It worked wonders.

I had them all taken out at once and by the time the dentist was done I couldn't feel myself swallow. It's numb but you still go through the motions. They just don't like to tell you that part until after your sitting there and it dawns on you. It wasn't bad for me at all. (And my teeth were deep!) Just swish with salt water every chance you get to heal the gums quicker. Also take your pain reliever as soon as you get home. This way by the time your numbness wears-off, your pain killer will be working. Wisdom teeth pain is dreadful until you finally just get them yanked. My advice.....if you have one that's hurting, get it pulled and deal with the rest -one at a time. This way you can better afford it. Don't be afraid. Just imagine all of us sitting in the chair next to you having the same thing done! Because we did!

2 of mine were impacted. I was put under and woke up feeling sooo out of it. I wasn't in pain, just really groggy. And this was my first experience with Vicadin. Love it!!! But I stalled on mine for years until they grew to the point where they were biting into my gums. Ouch!

I was told to have mine removed and didn't until many years later. There is no way I can tell you how much you'll regret it if you leave those things in. It can affect your general health in the future. Please get it done.

I had two taken out under a general anaesthetic. The dental surgeon said they were both very, very awkward to remove. I had two black eyes, couldn't open my mouth very wide for around four days and I had a numbness followed by a "pins n needles" feeling in the left side of my tongue for almost three months afterwards because he bruised my nerve.

If you're put to sleep they tend to be a lot rougher with you, especially if they're awkward to remove, hence the brusing.

They pulled my teeth and my feet are now shorter! Sudden death may occur! Uncontrollable flatulance! You'll be fine with no problems! Just do it.
