Can you get HIV from lesbian intercourse?

Can you get HIV or STI's for that matter from lesbian intercourse?

That is a question that a 14 year old put to me today, and i couldn't answer. Does anybody know??
I don't even know what she meant by 'intercourse' tbh, i didn't want to ask what she knew! It was embarrasing for me so i'm impressed she was able to ask me!

yes you can. you can certainly get HIV through oral sex and bodily fluid exchange. albeit, it's not as risky as say, unprotected anal sex (where there is no natural lubrication, tears in the skin are more easy to happen.) but yes, the risk of HIV transmission is still there, even for lesbian sex.

.It's much *much* harder for sex between women to spread HIV but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. HIV is about fluids from the infected person getting in the blood steam of the other person. So cuts and scraps that you are ready have or that happen during sex are dangerous. As for other STD's you can get those to. Herpes being the easy one some of the others are a bit harder.

Yes, it can definitely still be spread. Like annie said, it's harder than, say, anal sex but possible if the two women share a vibrator, do oral, etc.

yes you can

Hello,
YES you CAN get HIV and all sorts of others as well from lesbian intercourse. Recently Ive been interested in this question myself; I asked myself it, and eventually did some reasearching on the internet for some information. You know, I think we often dont realise the potential dangers and risks of having unprotected sex; seriously like people (in general) are so used to hearing and saying that lesbian sex is not as risky (as say, other practices perhaps), when really, you can get HIV AS WELL, AND OTHER DISEASES.. its like.. HELLO???!! In my opinion all lesbians should be well informed on the different forms of having safe sex because actually, that makes you a more free woman - its when you have the CHOICES and the ability to choose (after having knowledge), that you are a FREE person in the century that we live in. I think lesbians (who engage in 'lesbian sex' - far too often not discussed) have that right.

please look at these websites, as they were of use to me: i know i have listed quite a few, (haha many actually), but they are all extremely useful I think, and tell you for instance how to actually in some way PROTECT yourself during lesbian sex.

I think you can definitely get HIV from oral sex and tribbing. Wherever bodily fluids are exchanged there is risk of contracting the HIV virus.
