Skin care/early aging prevention...

I was looking on google (without much luck) since my friends mom told me:
"you should start taking care of your skin at a young age. This is the reason why I have aged so well."
Another lady there also looked EXTREMELY young (her skin I mean, even though she was obese). But her face... wow... she didn't have many wrinkles... hardly any, both of them.
I think they mentioned using Clinique products since a young age.

As part of my skin care I use proactive for acne, which I hope to stop some time.. I wear moisturizer with SPF everyday single day.

What else is recommended for people in their 20's to do when it comes to skin care to prevent aging/early aging? Eye creams? Face creams? Anything else??
What do you guys in your 20's or used to be in your 20's use?

*Ah.. yes I also know that drinking alot of water helps keep skin hydrated.
*I avoid sun.
*I don't smoke.
*I sleep well.

Basicly I'm looking for products/types of products which mostly aid in anti-aging..

My mom said that if you use anti aging products, your skin loses the ability to produce the collagen it needs (some part of it) to stay young. I doubt it's true and I haven't researched it. I wonder what the others will say, because I want to start using those stuff too.

Sunblock, sunblock, sunblock.

And I should add to that - year round, and apply through the day!

Drink lots of water, take off your makeup if you wear it at night, eat healthy foods (low in sodium, etc) and exercise (recent studies show that those whom exercise and use sunblock have lower rates of skin cancer (which is really skin damage) than those whom don't exercise).

It probably goes without saying..but don't tan/try to tan or burn.

Don't rub your eyes (use a gentle makeup remover and wipe) as tissue around eyes is more delicate.

I don't use any other creams and such (other than sunblock), use gentle skin cleansers (like Cetaphil) and go light on makeup (and take breaks from it entirely some days).

I have very nice skin, despite being a pale redhead and usually more prone to damage!

Sometimes, well, it is just genetics too. Some people just have it in them to wrinkle sooner or get bags under their eyes.

One thing that I think helps is putting on moisturizer before you go to bed. I've never used Clinique products - I use Origins and I love all their stuff.

Another thing that helps me is using a facial scrub (I use Origins) once or twice a week.

Here is something I wish I had known about when I was 22- olive oil. I met a pretty well-renowned makeup artist and she told me to use sweet almond oil to clean my face, which I did for a while, but now I use olive oil since it's basically the same thing.

I put the oil on my face, then wipe it off with a slightly damp tissue or cotton ball. Then I pat my face dry with a towel, and spritz rosewater on it. I have extremely dry skin so I'm not sure how this would work for someone with oily skin. It may seem like it goes against everything any dermatologist would say, but it really does work.

One thing also- I have noticed that wrinkling tends to be genetic, so some things you just have to accept. But the oil really does make my skin very soft and smooth.

eye make up removal

Ah yea.. true. I myself am a bit guilty of not removing eye make up perhaps as gently as I should. And the eyes are one of the first places to show aging signs... And hardest to cover up I guess.
Here is a very good tip which involved olive oil. (I can't use olive oil on my face either since I also have acne prone/oily skin but under eyes I am ok to use it.)

Quote:
Olive Oil. Olive oil is an excellent, natural way to remove eye makeup and to condition the lashes.

Directions: Soak a cotton ball with olive oil and wipe over eye area to remove makeup. Remove excess olive oil with a warm, damp washcloth. For a more luxurious experience, slightly warm the olive oil before applying.

These ladies faces aren't fat. I mean yes around it your right.. like the obese lady did have a big of a saggy neck and stuff but her face overall looked very young/youthfull. Nice eyes too.

* Don't smoke

* Use sunscreen everyday.

* Put a moisturizer on every day/night with spf in it.

* Drink lots of water

* Eat healthy

* Exercise

* Try not to stress out! lol. Stess actually causes a lot of aging/toll on your body. If you are stressed maybe take yoga classes or something.

* Try and sleep on your back. -Sleeping with your face on your pillow causes wrinkles.

* Take a multi vitamin everyday.

As far as skin products- I use Dermalogica ultra calming cleanser. And their age smart mousterizer with spf30. It is a bit pricey, but their products work really well.
