Head cold remedies?

Whats up all?

This time of year seems to bring on bad allergies, chest and head colds. My spouse had a slight headache and runny nose this past tuesday and now he's completely congested and feeliing awful. I know his body has to go through the crummy cycle of getting better, but are there any good medications he could use to help the process go a little smoother?

Long hot showers and ice cubes.

That always does it for my hay fever.

As far as medication, I'm not a doctor but afrin will take away most sinus congestion. Vicks is always a great old remedy too.

If he can take it, Tylenol Allergy, Cold & Sinus always works for me.
And as PP said, Long hot showers helps as well as getting a warm mist humidifier.

I use Cold FX preventatively, but they do have a "shorten cold" dosage too once you have one (here you can get a generic version that is same but quite a bit cheaper too).

Chicken soup has been proven (in many studies) to really do wonders for clearing the congestion. Homemade is good, but they have actually found the Lipton mix has more of the stuff that works in it.

Hot showers breathing in steam helps me (I actually find going for a run on treadmill (not outside if I am sick) THEN going into the hot shower really gets the ickiness out of my lungs); or putting some vicks in a bowl of hot, hot water (cloth over head) and ingesting vapours.

I also use Tylenol Cold/Flu or NyQuil/DayQuil for bad cases.

I have used this stuff for years^^^^^^

I works quickly, and I can put a few drops on the corners of my pillow case at night and by the morning the congestion is lots better. Watkins has amazing products. I dont know where you live, or if you could get it locally, but I would definitely try it. I have never seen anyone who hasnt told me that it helped.

Shoot I even gave a bottle to my professor last semester. She told me that she was desperate to find anything to work, and so I brought it in for her. She said it was a god send.
